They are selling drinking water $1.00 or more for 1 ltr.
If you made a car run on drinking water it would cost 4.50 gallon. We are stupid enough to pay 4.50 a gallon for water I am sure it will be easy to pay 4.50 or more for gasoline.

I believe (might be wrong) I read an extensive article in Scientific American on this project.
It does work and is possible. Don't know about the $1.50 price tag. And it will take a lot of time and money to upscale it for commercial use. YMMV
