Electric Screwdriver - Pistol Shaped
Electric Screwdriver - Pistol Shaped
Please recommend one. I'm on my 3rd one, cannot get them to last more than a year. Then again what can you expect for $10-$15? Maybe I demand too much of them and should switch to the lightest compact drill I can find. Opinions are welcomed. Visual Example: Power Tools - Cordless Screwdrivers - MCM Electronics - Category ![]()

A little overkill, but get one of the 18v Makita impacts.... They are even your colors, Zebra!

Looks like not long ago Dremel made a nice one, but it is no longer available.

Black and decker used to make one that was straight, not pistol shaped. I had two and they lasted many years, but then they replaced them with the models that will bend into aistol shape. I tried one. It was crap compared to the old one. Now I just use a cordless Makita drill.

Bosch makes a nice one.
I have used several of these at work for the last couple of years. I just bought one at Lowes for about $77 including 2 batteries and the charger Shop Bosch 12-Volt 1/4" Cordless Litheon Pocket Driver with Case at Lowes.com |

I believe the dremels are still available over here. Need to check to make sure.
If it is and you need one, it can be arranged.

Milwalkee makes a nice one that is straight but, has a central pivot if you want.
Used one for years in my site work. We also use them extensively in house for manufacturing.

It sits most of the time, I am thinking this is why it die so often. I don't mean not charge. Last edited by look 171; 01-26-2011 at 10:17 AM.. |

Any of the Mikita, Bosch, or Milwaukee little li ion drills are awsome. That pretty much all we us in our cabinet shop.

+1 for this. The battery gets soft on mine every few years and I just swap it out for free when the snap on guy comes around.

I've looked at the 2lb Bosch Lithium-Ion Battery drivers/drills/impacts at Lowes, and although they are more than I was originally looking for they are also good candidates to replace my slowly dying (18 year old) 18v Makita cordless drill.
I know Home Depot carries some other brands, and I think most of the brands are coming out with new stuff pretty soon, at least Bosch is expected to. That $99 Bosch unit recently selling for $77 is all sold out, a new model is on it's way. I e-mailed Dremel to see if they have plans on bring back the Duo to the USA but have not heard from them yet.

This thread sparked my curiousity. I looked around especially at the Milwaukee 12V Li-Ion stuff.
HD is apparently blowing this 3 piece kit out at $149 if they still have any. My local HD didn't have any. They are now selling it as a 2 pc kit for 149. (apparently the 3pc was a limited time promotional thing). Each of the 3 pieces individually are normally $149. Right now, 2 of the 3 are on sale for $99 each, or you can get the 2 piece for $149. The third pc that was included in the promotial kit is $149. Because the chick remembered having the 3 piece kit for sale at $199, she sold me the clearance $149 2pc kit plus the $149 third part individually for $199. She knocked $99 off of the price of the third part. So, I got the screwdriver, Hackzall, and Drill Driver all for $199. Because I bought them separately, that also means that I've got 4 batteries and 2 chargers. Here are several places online that are still advertising the 3 pc kit for $200 (MLW249022P) M12 3 Piece Screwdriver, Hackzall and Drill Driver Combo Kit # 2490-22P: Compare Prices, View Price History and Read Reviews at NexTag ![]() Quote:
I guess the 2 pc kit is a 2490-22, and the 3 pc kit is the 2490-22P.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale.
I'm holding off on buying anything right away. My camera just died and I have to replace it. The camera is a tool I use just about every day, and need not want one. EDIT: Dremel did get back to me, they said the demand from the retailers via their customers in the USA to support the Duo/pistol screwdriver is not there. Why they don't sell it on-line when they still offer it in Europe and in Australia is unknown to me.
