Cross over theory/scavenge effect on exhaust.

It's an accepted theory....how to put it into play.

I have a Harley Evo motor on a hard tail "Bobber". Straight drag pipes extend past the rear axle on the right (non drive) side. They block the axle bolt and require removal if I need to change a tire or replace brake pads. (No I can't swap the axle to the other side)

I'm thinking of cutting the length to just after the final support, adding a set of baffles to cut down the decel popping AND adding a cross over to provide a scavenge path.

Anyone been there done that, on the cross over?

Thanks in advance.....please no suggestions to buy a Mac or a Honduh....

Add a fuel controller, if your pop'in on decel, you are too lean. Also get back some of the HP lost from the exhaust mods.

The pop is gone after the baffle addition. Recent plug reads are nice chocolate brown and the pipes are dark on the inside.

It's a carbed Evo. Are fuel controllers an option on non fuel injected engines?

Sorry, don't know much about Harley's, other than they just learned about the wonders of fuel injection.

No worries, it's a bastard just like my 911,,,,

I just remove my pipes to service the brakes and tire. I don't have to do it but every ten K miles. I am interested in your theory though.

Bobber with a hardtail frame.....08 factory crate motor.
