Foul tip for Darwin

Officials: Porsche that flipped going 119 mph | car, whitaker - News - The Orange County Register

Too bad this one didn't get flushed from the gene pool.

Sounds like a real pair of winners...

I wonder how they calculate the speed of the car. I mean, they came up with 119 mph. Not a round number like 120, but 119. They must have (or think they have) some pretty accurate method of speed estimation.

What a waste of beautiful car.

I use to know a cop and his only job was to decipher traffic accidents; speed, exact position of impact, etc. It was pretty interesting to listen to his stories.

Sounds like someone will complain about faulty cruise control.

Crowbob 02-01-2011 10:46 AM

The car may have been photographed and clocked by traffic cameras.

Speedo may have quit at speed of the crash. Perhaps designed to do that?

Could be from the "black box", could be from skid and/or yaw marks. good reading by google search: formula determine speed from skid marks

The passenger who admitted he was drinking just got out of jail that morning for stealing motorcycles, according to the article.
Real piece of work.

Black box or GPS from your smart phone or On-star type service... Big brother is watching.
