Marketing in China

I got this link in an email titled "Chinese Cadillac Commercial"

YouTube - Cadillac V Day in Shanghai

Pretty slick marketing by Cadillac. It is interesting to get a glimpse of what US companies are doing to market their products in China.

If tapping into the Chinese market is important to US growth, I wonder how much more of this is happening?

GM did sell more cars in China in 2010 than they did in the USA.

In the US you couldn't get that many people to see a Cadillac demonstration if you paid them all $50. Sad, really, that Cadillac enjoys tremendous success in China and GM rewards them with China-only cars and appointments that are better than what we have here.

Great driving, BTW. It was cool to see John Heinricy lap the black CTS-V at the end

OSHA would have a field day with this if filmed in the US. Nice precision driving and very impressive.

Shades of the old Joie Chitwood Thrill Show. Some of the same stunts.

China loves GMs and Fords. They also have a taste for Marlboros, KFC and Coke.

This is all great- but we won't ever balance the trade deficit on that. Interesting to see how GM is working the marketing over there--and hope other US companies are being as agressive. I would like to see a Chinese Marlboro ad Probably don't use an Anglo cowboy. Oh wait- Google comes through again.

Ha, Ha, that is exactly what I was thinking of! Wonder what the Chinese think of it!
