Pinching the boat and going to park in the middle with a rod and book

Before the kids head back to school and I get too caught up in work (poor Mike already is - full shop)...I am spiriting away for a few days .

Roadtrip up the coast to see some friends, fish, swim and blob with the three kids...

Tom (18 - nearly qualified chef) has some days off and sorely needs a break so Mummy to the rescue! Charlotte and Billy are itching to see our friends and their dogs so we're off on Thursday via some of the BEST roads to be found in Aus. Shame I have to take Bertha Van (VW Multivan) and not something a little more exciting as the road from Cann River to Bombala is stunning.

Tom and I are fighting over who gets to the boat first...we both just want to park in the middle of Wallaga Lake for a while...

Packed the first essential - Vodka for bloody marys with my dear friend Mary - cannot wait!!!

Randy, still too far south for the crocs ... south coast of NSW (Sapphire coast).

Joe, pics are a must; particularly as Charlotte and Billy both were given new cameras for Christmas. I'll be too busy drinking bloody marys and untangling the fishing line!

Heading up through the Snowy mountains - will take a little longer but I am busting for the kids to see the mountains in summer (and the road....I want my 911 back now).

Crocs don't bother me, now those spiders and snakes you have are something to consider.

Spiders and snakes have been bad this year - all the rain we've had has flushed both out. Got brown snakes in the local parks here - have to keep reminding the kids NOT to stray off the paths and to keep the pooch on the leash at the moment. The big black hairy spiders seem to love my car - I have regular (controlled) freak outs whilst driving when one appears from under the sunvisor

For the record I'm not partial to either...either!

We're back...

Well. I didn't want to come home. I whinged and whined about leaving. We all did. Then we drove home in absolutely unbearable heat and got stuck halfway because of a bushfire. As Tom said to me; this country is crazy...floods, drought, cyclones and bushfires all at the same time.

But we had a sensational few days away! Didn't get the boat in the water in the end as we ran out of time (and our friend with the boat had 'boat trouble'; finally got it sorted but we had to head for home so next time).

Photos etc here in the Aussie/New Zealand regional forum:

Roadtrip - Mummy (me) and the kids coming up
