Sealer for travertine tile?
I picked up some 511 impregnator for my granite countertop. I want to do my travertine floor as well. They have a 'porous surface' 511 product that seems like it would be right for the job, but the stuff is pretty spendy. Any other recommendations? (Cost isn't the issue, I just want to get the right thing for the job)
The floor was previously sealed at install, about 18 months ago. Don't know product, but I know the tile guy gave me an option for something with a little more sheen that would darken the floor up just a shade. I would like to duplicate the results. Any help appreciated. |
What you have is perfect.

I asked on PPOT once about the best sealer. I was told to get the 511 stuff. I've got a countertop that's done with very porous 12" granite tile. I used the regular 511 stuff. It worked well. It seems to work much better than the other stuff that they sell that comes in the metallic green jugs.
I have seen stuff at HD that is for "wet look" sealing (enhances color and gives more gloss). I don't think it was the 511 stuff though. I think that the 511 stuff that you have is probably the best, but I don't think they have a "wet-look" version. |
Doesn't glossy kinda defeat the point of travertine?

Thanks for the info guys. |
With expensive material or large areas it is always a good idea to do a test area before doing it all if you are unsure if you will like the finish.

Around here, the gallon and the quarts are different. The quart has a higher VOC, the salesman told me that the quart bottle are better. OI am sure how much difference is it going to make.

80 sqft = < quart for me. Thanks for the tip! Who knew PP Was the source for all useful info? :)
