If you've got a CCW in Ohio and he knows it, he'll probably want to know if you have the weapon with you and he'll want to see it. If you refuse, it is obstruction of justice. Here in layman's terms is how it goes down:

"Modern obstruction of justice, in United States jurisdictions, refers to the crime of offering interference of any sort to the work of police, investigators, regulatory agencies, prosecutors, or other (usually government) officials. Often, no actual investigation or substantiated suspicion of a specific incident need exist to support a charge of obstruction of justice. "

I'm not so sure about that. The state may have a law explicitly requiring you to show him the location, however.

I spoke to a criminal defense atty about this issue - he said that there is a federal database that all police dept.s can access with info on citizens. He was unsure as to exactly what was in it - obviously convictions will be there, but it's not clear if, say, a misdemeanor will drop out after xx years. Also, the contacts type questions I put in the OP may or may not be reported.
