Please ID my piston
I can't figure out if this is Alusil, Nikasil, JE, Nickies, or what, so please help. I don't want to purchase the wrong cylinders. I've placed a quarter on the skirt for a size reference.
TIA! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1296937517.jpg PS I did get a good deal on some rings, but some darn neighborhood kids stole them and are outside playing with them right now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1296937574.jpg |
All the cold has gotten to you hasn't it?

diesel ?
|
I have seen a piston like that before, although I have no idea what it is. I used to rent commercial space from a trucking company, and I think I remember them telling me something about a 2 cycle diesel motor, maybe?

You and Sniper would go far....

Two stroke diesel locomotive engine.
|
Cool! I stood on a scale with it, it's about 18lbs.
|
I don't think it's out of a locomotive. At the museum I volunteer at we have a GE switcher that the engine literally blew up. It's like a cutaway view of the insides and it's way bigger than that.

Definitely a diesel two stroke, and most likely out of an industrial engine.
It's much smaller than the gas fired industrial engines I've worked on but it does look similar to a Clark power piston, just smaller. |
i was afraid this was a sniper thread.
|
Looks like a reasonably good home defense weapon.
