Got me another show in Prague!

Yeah Baby!!

I can't say much about it yet, but about 80 shooting days in Czech, and surrounding countries. I may be over there again as early as late March/Early April, with a couple of return trips over the next few months. I love Prague, especially when the Company will fly me Business Class on Lufthansa, which has true lie flat seat/beds that are made by Recaro. SmileWavy

Also got another show filming this Summer in Iceland, never been there.

I am itching to get to Prague. It sounds like a truly awesome place to visit.

I must say Hugh I am slightly envious of you.

Crowbob 02-10-2011 07:24 PM

I'm not slightly envious. I'm totally envious.

spent lots of time in Praha. it's my favorite city in the world. cheap food, good beer, hot women. doesn't get much better.

Hugh R 02-10-2011 07:45 PM

Absolutely amazing city. You walk by large 3 and 4 story stone buildings that are 800 to 1,000 years old that have modern doors and windows, elevators, and have shops like Mont Blanc, Hermes, Coach, Rolex and Cartier. The old Jewish cemetery has something crazy like a million bodies in a few acres; the Old Jewish Quarter was the only place Jews could live and work and die for about 1,000 years. I'm not looking up the history, just going from memory.

The bridge you see is the Charles Bridge, its about 800 years old. The last time I was there they were replacing some of the cobblestones that were broken and tossing the old ones in a dumpster. I fished one out of the dumpster and brought it home. My wife couldn't understand why I brought home a "rock". :)

If you're into WWII history and get a day off, head out toward Kladno and go see Lidice, the village the Nazis wiped off the map as a reprisal for Heydrich's assassination. Very gruesome story. You can still see some of the bldg. foundations and mass graves.

+1 to rick. also, check out the church in Kutna Hora

You have a piece of an 800 year old cobblestone, cool; how big is it?

slodave 02-10-2011 11:20 PM

From the Piazza Del Campo, Siena, Italy.

I've got some 2000 year old stuff too.

Sometimes you just need to bring home rocks and things from far away places :D

Hugh,

Iceland: You've gotta love a place where they make a fountain with boiling water.

This sculpture and the fountain mimicking a geyser is next to a thermal storage tank complex overlooking Rekjavik.

The terrain is so varied: from lava fields to meadows to mountains heaving up out of the coastal plains to the biggest glaciers in Europe. All within an hour drive.

If you go riding, be advised the horse will 'tolt', which is like a speed-walker on uppers. The harder you squeeze the horse with your legs, the faster he will go.

As I mentioned the other day: standing on the rim of a huge waterfall, with busloads of tourists around the only thing between you and the edge is a piece of green rope, held 6 inches off the ground with wooden stakes.

It's interesting to walk through a small town and note things that look like rough stone barbecue pits with steam rising from them. They are actually steam vents with rocks piled around to keep you from stepping too near the edge.

You will love the people. Almost everyone speaks English and is willing to help you pronounce Iclandic words properly, if you want to try.

Enjoy!
Les

kach22i 02-11-2011 05:23 AM

I spent some of my grad school studies in the Czech Republic, including two or three weeks in Prague. The summer of 1993, I'll never forget how to order a beer.

Pivo (beer)

Děkuji (dequee - thank you)

I think the unbroken original was about 6 inches deep. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1297441182.jpg
