Turning off the Maint required light

Every 5000 miles the Maint light on my '06 Taco comes on. It's a handy reminder but I don't know of any way to clear it. Do you guys know how?

Already did the "hide it with tape" thing.

Go by Advanced Auto Parts. They might be able to. That or any auto service shop will do it for free some times. Just ask.

Well most toyotas you turn on the key and hold the trip reset for five seconds.

What Scott R said. Hold the trip reset and you should see bars that decrease from 5 to 1 and then it resets.

What does it say in the owner's manual?

Prolly won't say in an owner's manual, but the shop manuals will. Tech guys need to know how to reset them.

That's how I learned to reset it in my Chevy pick-up.

Your taco needs maintenance? Shouldn't this be on the Oprah board or something??

hahahah..

i got it memorized. put the odo on the main mileage..(not trip). hold the button, and flip the ignition on..you will see "------" the ticks will tick down..once they all go away..it is reset. you can let go of the button.

and it is in the owner's manual.

vash 02-11-2011 07:56 PM

and it starts to flash at 4500 miles..at 5000 it stays on.

My DD and my wife's DD have this feature. Both cars' owner's manuals (Honda products) describe how to reset this reminder. YMMV.

Most certainly is in the book, toyotas are easy to change the oil in. I can do one without spilling a drop....

It's in the book up to the 2010 Prius, same procedure. Sid, I have 7 Land Cruisers that need a new oil filter.

flatbutt 02-12-2011 08:26 AM

You want to do my 944 when you are done? I can't seem to find the time to change my own right now...
