WTF is up with Keith Stone?

Does this guy really sell beer? I realize it's tongue in cheek but if I drank beer I wouldn't buy it because the guy is a dirtbag, probably dates his cousin.

Funny, I'm watching Hot Rod TV on Speed (yea I know) and they just built a Keith Stone Camaro. Car was pretty cool ... but he's a dorky dude IMHO. And no way would I drink that beer.

yetibone 02-12-2011 06:40 AM

He looks like he's Jack Black's little brother, or something.

Jinx...I was just watching that show too. I think Keith Stone is supposed to be humorous tongue in cheek advertising, kind if making fun of themselves to get attention.

I only drink keystone in bottles btw. Hahaha. Seriously though, haven't drank it since college but a coworker if mine still drinks it regularly. I keep telling him He makes enough to drink good beer now. :)

legion 02-12-2011 09:28 AM

I did an experiment over several weekends in college. I would drink half of a beer, and not drink anything else alcoholic the rest of the night. Keystone was on the list of beers that would give me a throbbing headache within three hours after only half a beer.

Also on that list:

Natty Ice (Natural Ice)
The Beast (Milwaukee's Best)
Old Pile (Old Style)
Miller Lite
MGD
Busch
Busch Light
PBR

I pretty much got through college drinking Rolling Rock and Budweiser, or Guinness when I could afford it. Then, senior year, I discovered Sam Adams, and it changed my life forever...

azasadny 02-12-2011 09:58 AM

When the product is crap, you have to have a gimmick to get us slobs to buy it, I guess...

herr_oberst 02-12-2011 10:39 AM

Snipe? Selling beer?

BeyGon 02-12-2011 10:41 AM

I live in a cocoon, I don't know who he is and haven't seen that beer.

Aurel 02-12-2011 12:40 PM

Looks to me like beer for rednecks, advertised by a redneck. Makes good sense overall.

HardDrive 02-12-2011 12:57 PM

Just looking at the guy reminds me of growing up in small town Michigan. No idea who the guy is.

HardDrive 02-12-2011 12:57 PM

And for god sake, shouldn't there be a law against calling that stuff 'beer'?

sammyg2 02-12-2011 01:30 PM

Gotta take a gook look at their target audience ......
Their the ones who probably don't think much of beer snobs who act like a beer can't be good unless it's expensive, imported, bitter and nasty.

I can drink 12-20 Guinness, Sam Adams, Rolling Rock, Blue Moons, Oberons, Fat Tires...or any combination thereof in a night with no hangover. I've been told it's probably a sensitivity to sulfides (which are abundant in crappy beer).

Weighing 285 lbs. has it's advantages when it comes to drinking...

gprsh924 02-12-2011 05:06 PM

Keystone, always smooth even when you're not.

Solid college beer

Crowbob 02-12-2011 05:48 PM

Chris,

I would think drinking 1/2 a beer at college parties would pretty much give anybody a headache watching all those people becoming total idiots.

These experiments were done during the winter on nights when we stayed in. (Sometimes is just too f***ing cold to go out to get sloshed.)

I was just trying to figure out why I felt hungover EVERY time I drank, even when it wasn't very much.

I found this one funnier, but then again I shot this one.

widgeon13 02-13-2011 02:38 AM

That's great and very funny.

Zeke 02-13-2011 07:57 AM

Made by Coors and tastes like Coors Light.

Which I can't stand anymore, but there was a time 30-40 years ago that it was a favorite.

Bud Light will do just fine as a maintenance beer.

I think Kieth Stone is brilliant bit I hope they don't try to milk this forever. I mean this is no Budweiser Clydesdale commercial. But, if they do one more, they should have Keith standing around the vat like the Sam Adams guys in a total send up.

I'd go out and buy a case to see that.

widgeon13 02-13-2011 08:16 AM

Maybe they could have him getting an STD off the top of a can of Sam Adams or maybe he'll out himself in a few months. Now that would be funny.

When you find a can of Sam Adams, let me know.

widgeon13 02-16-2011 12:50 PM

Good point.

juanbenae 02-16-2011 02:08 PM

i love the one where he rescues the crying bride. hanging up the pay phone she was crying on with the meat stick ruled.... not a fan of the beer, but a huge keith stone fan

Wow, that's a pretty good sized pile ;) You got me by 30 lubs.

LA Times ran an article Sunday that said the beer commercials on television today are demeaning to women, and that as men, we should be ashamed of ourselves. We are supporting sexism, chauvinism, and other sorts of social unfairness via these advertisements.

Funny thing is, almost all other commercials on TV openly demean men as stupid, incompetent and an embarrassment to women.

Whatever.

Keith Stone rocks, but Costco beer is the best!

sammyg2 02-16-2011 03:40 PM

Costco has beer? How is a gazillion-pack?

Nah. It's the same amount as what comes with any case. But it's a variety pack. Pale Ale, Amber Ale, Hefeweizen Beer and German Lager. It's labeled under the Kirkland brand. I'd take it over a case of Guinness, Bass or Newcastle any day.

Same with Costco steaks. Best meat I've had in a long time.

Tobra 02-16-2011 07:50 PM

Keystone, is that the one that is plywood aged? Maybe that was Schaefer.

The thing about the Keith Stone commercials, they always have a screamingly hot gal, though I suppose that applies to the preponderance of ads for beer. Funny is what I like in an ad, gal on the headset one was way funnier than any of the ones featuring Mr Stone, who apparently is always smooth.

When I was in college, we would go to the beer distributor and buy out dated beer, which always tasted fine to me. They would mark it down quite a bit. At the time, Coors was the only one they did this with, so we drank a lot of silver bullets and regular Coors.

I bet I have not had a Coors in 10 years. It is the beer my Dad's Mother always used in her pancake batter, more like crepes or blintzes than pancakes really.

Gogar 02-16-2011 08:43 PM

Keith stone kicks ass. He's smooth, always.
