My Valentines Spoon

So my wife wants to exchange Valentines gifts tonight, something about so the kids can play with their gifts this weekend. Don't ask but its like Christmas but thats another topic. Anyway, here is what she gets me, I was totally blown away. I told her that I always wanted one of these months ago!!! I am feeling like a pretty lucky guy tonight!

Nothing says "Be Mine" like a P1

Love the looks. I want a Ruger Mark III standard, which this reminds me of. Take note of the first longer post here for safety:

Just bought a Walther P1 - THR

Wow! What a great gift! My wife bought me a Beretta 92FS 15 years ago for Christmas and it was one of the best gifts I've ever received!

Entered service with the German army in 1939 replacing the Luger. In 1957 the name was changed to the P1 and stayed in service until the 90's

P1.........

This design (P38/P1) also has the distinction of being the first locked breech single action/double action service pistol. It was designed as a replacement for the Luger pistol to eliminate the need for very skilled labor required to build and fit the Luger parts together. Many of the P1s coming into the states now were actually set aside for issue to the German police but were never issued. Thus the brand new/unused look. Mine came with a spare mag and the service flap type holster. Great guns, and much history there!

I was actually pretty surprised to see mine has a 1985 production date on it. the 'BW' just over the trigger is the Bundeswehr or German military property marking. The dot in a circle is an in house Walther military inspector acceptance stamp. It also has no rework dates. Mine appears to have been issued with slight wear on the slides from holstering.
