Apple Aperture 3 question for the gurus
I downloaded the Aperture 3 app yesterday and and I'm having a minor problem with it. It is continuously processing and my hard drive is continuously spinning and the back of my Mac is getting very hot when the app is open. Once I close the app the drive stops heating up and everything is fine. Otherwise it is operating OK.
Picture with red arrow shows where processing. Any ideas or recommendations on how to get the software to stop processing. I shut down and it continues, force quit and it continues. Is there some way to reset? Thanks http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1297619595.jpg |
Is it processing all the time or just after you have loaded or manipulated data. Did you buy it through Mac and download it from their site?
|
Likely a first run index of your files.
How many pics do you already have? |
It is processing all the time and I transfered 2500 pics from iphoto. Did that last night. When I noticed it heating up I closed the app. So you think it's still loading the info from the file transfer. I will wait and see if it stops after a while. Otherwise it is function fine. And yes, I got it from the Apple App store.
Thanks guys. |
If you dragged over and imported 2500 pictures at once it is going to take a while. I would let them load separately and then back up.

I'll give it a while. Thanks

I'd do 100 at a time and get an idea of how long it will take then maybe do 2-300 at a time.

I've gone in and out of the app and tried not to let is run too long. Also shut down the computer for a while and it has stopped processing. I won't load that many pictures again. Will do smaller batches as you recommend.
Think we are ok now. First time I have downloaded such a large app but seems to be working fine right now. |
Yep. sounds like your catalog must be huge.
Also guys, Aperture 3 is only 80 bucks now so there is no reason not to have it plus lightroom. |
Download went smoothly and since it's $199 at the store, I thought it was a pretty good deal.

You mean your computer got hot while doing work? Your car does too? Oh wow.
jk... let it RUN. |
