There's some discussion on this on a local gun bbs. Seems one of the SWAT guys might not have checked the select fire switch on his rifle.

That first guy on the right to shoot was pretty sure of himself. Was he using a handgun or long gun? It looked like it was from the hip.

Sorry to see the guy die but he will not be doing this silly stunt again.

I live about 2 miles away and heard the news helicopters when I got home.
It used to be quiet around here. Then all these people had to move to Cary, so Cary had to expand out to here. We all knew it was only a matter of time before some crime moved out here with it. I think it was a few months ago someone was shot and killed in the apartment complex adjacent to that Wachovia bank.

I once received a speeding ticket in Cary from a female cycle cop.

True, indeed. I'm also happy that the outcome was what it was.
What bothers me though is the rise in theft, and burglary around here since Cary expanded it's borders for the developers that bought up all of the defunct farmland to build 1/3 acre homesites, apartment complexes, and flex space a few years ago. Cary's town limit is the American Tobacco Trail, formerly the old Norfolk-Southern railway, which is about 75 yards east of my property. When two of my neighbors were broken into, Cary PD of course couldn't respond because it was outside of it's town limits. However, the Cary PD will claim extra-territorial jurisdiction, and cite you for speeding if one of their officers happens to clock you in my area west of it's border. I think their ETJ is 5 miles outside their border on petty matters like traffic violations.

Looks like it was a "Suicide by Cop" now and had mental health issues.
