Done deal. Meeting the guy tomorrow to make the buy. Trucks in good shape. A few dings and scrapes, but overall very nice. Drives great. Its an XL, but thats fine. I like rubber floors.
Mileage? I drive a Carrera S everyday. On a good day it gets 14mpg. With me driving its more like 12-13. I'd probably be 'going green' if I drove the truck more. |

I couldnt live without one. Ive always had some type of truck, in the past 30 yrs ive been driving. whether it was a P/U or one of my ford broncos.

I have had a truck of some sort since I started racing MX in the 80's. Presently have a used Tundra 4x4. It should last me many more years of occasional use when I need to haul or tow something and for the few days a year when severe snow drifting happens out in the wide open boonies I live in. My wife and I never have and never will own a SUV/station wagon/minivan. Trucks are made to haul stuff easily.... cars/motorcycles are made to drive daily.... pretty simple.

yeah HD, ya gots to have a truck. I f I was a workin' man I'd have the F 150 but the Taco is all I need.

I have a 1972 chevy truck with a straight 6 and a 1 barrel carb and a 4 spd. It only gets 10 miles per gallon and I think last year I put 100 miles total on it, but it was there when I needed it. I used it yank 2 oleanders from my yard, hauled 4 loads of rock, and Home Depot runs. If my wife sees something she wants at a garage sale, she knows the truck is there ready to go. I carry just liabilty ins.@ $22.00 per month and the tags are $25.00 per year. It's still cheaper than if I would have rented a truck and the inconvenience to me just isn't worth it. BUY THE TRUCK.

I hate driving my truck. Maybe not hate it, but I really don't like it. It's my second truck and trucks have been daily driver for about 10 years now, but I've finally had enough. So I thought about buying a Cayenne so I could pull a trailer but still have a fun "car". After several months of thinking about it, I realized I couldn't live without a truck. So I added some width to my driveway so I could park the truck off to the side and get another car in the garage. Needless to say I've been looking for just the right 997 for a couple months now.
So buy the truck but don't give up the daily driver sports car like I did 10 years ago. |
I bought my F350, 7.3L diesel in '05 because I knew I would soon need something to haul & tow stuff. Now I only use it a couple of times a week, but I don't plan on getting rid of it. It's there when I need it. However oddly enough my favorite hauler/tower was my old E150 wagon. I actually feel like I could get more in that, volume wise, than my truck.

Finally got a truck last year and love it! Never going back! It is not a daily driver so gas mileage is not an issue.

I couldn't live with just my F250. I couldn't drive it everyday to work. I'm glad I have the comfy BMW...heck even the 911 is more comfortable for the commute. Maybe you should start putting more miles on the 930 until the 997 is found :)

With 188,000 miles on my 2001 5.4, I've changed the spark plugs 3 times with no problem. First time was at 100,000, 2nd was at about 150,000 and third was about 175,000. The car has a slight misfire I can feel at idle that I've been chasing. New plugs, COPS, ICV, fuel fitler, air filter, cleaning the MAP sensor, etc. hasn't fixed it yet. Might be part of the poor mpg or the high mileage?
Install them dry at 25 ft/lbs is the word on the F150 forums. If you need COPS, check ebay. You can get them for $100 for all 8. |
What the problem with the plugs? What is 'not doing them right'?
I've changed every plug, on every vehicle I've ever owned the same way. Finger tighten them down, then 1/8 turn with a wrench. Hasn't failed me yet. |
I think the problem with the plugs is the occasional stripped thread - soft metal and not much thread depth, or something like that.
By the way, great idea buying the truck. And not just any truck, but THAT truck. You made the right call - a good decision - well done. You did everything right, no doubt. No regrets on this one. Super job. etc. |
