Valentines Day florist doesn't deliver

I ordered flowers from a local florist to be sent to my wife at work today. They are a no show. I ordered these last week:eek:

I should call them and just get them to sent them to the funeral home for me.

This sounds like a bad excuse! Like your dog really ate your homework!

I have not mentioned this to my wife. Maybe she got them and never said anything.

I did get her some chocolates from our son.

I'd check in with the florist and wife. I sent roses to my wife one year. I even thought I'd send them to my her place of work (she was my GF at the time)--you know, so all her coworkers/friends would see her get them. But the delivery dude just dropped them off at the loading dock (she worked at a hospital). I thought someone would have the intelligence to make sure they got to the right floor--it's a hospital after all. They sat there all weekend until I broke into the loading dock area and retrieved them.

Moral of the story: make sure they didn't get delivered...to the wrong place.

This happened to me a few years ago and the florist's wife told me she'd deliver an extra dozen with my original dozen the following day. I said I didn't care about taking their unsold roses off their hands and they had missed the boat. Then they said they'd deliver them the next day and refund half the price to my credit card. When I walked over to the store the following day, I saw the roses in the cooler with my wife's name on them and I hit the ceiling. The guy finally gave me a $20 for the cab ride and I delivered them myself. Unreal.

Wife sent me a link last week to a discount coupon for flowers delivered (she LOVES her coupons).

I interpreted this to mean she didn't want flowers. ;)

So I sent one of those edible arrangement made of fruit... she sent a thank you email that they arrived (she didn't know they were on the way.)

And that is at a shipyard with a security gate and multiple buildings.

As for your problem... I'm sure there will be people hawking flowers on the street... or you can pick some up at the supermarket.

Oh, I am at work and won't get home till after midnight.

My wife works a mile from the house. I buy them at Safeway and drop them off before she gets there. Just as nice and a whole lot cheaper. Plus her female co-workers see me dropping them off.

Seriously, I feel sorry for you guys - Xmas is just a few weeks back and you got to buy more stuff already?

My wife has always made it abundantly clear to me that I am in no way to ever send her flowers for this day. She has this thing about paying 3-5 times what something normally costs just because of some manufactured obligation.

She prefers to load up tomorrow on the half off candy the day after...

I really love her.

Wife left work early, they showed up after she left. They were in her office this AM.
I know valentines day is just a commercial holiday for florists and candy companies, but the ladies like us to show a bit of affection every know and again.

Guys don't blow it off completely, takes some time to let them know how you feel.

Glad it worked out, sorry I didn't realize you were working late.

Yes it is total commercial BS... my wife is frugal and doesn't like getting flowers because of the expense and impracticality (extra point to me for thinking to give her a fruit arrangement... extra extra points for knowing she is on a diet and sending fruit instead of chocolate... OUCH! Just thru out my shoulder patting myself on the back)

Anyhoo, it is more about caring enough to remember and making a little extra effort... woman dig that. ;)

a few years ago i ordered flowers for the wife and the receptionist messed up. she's in charge of two buildings and when i asked the wife that evening if the flowers made it ok, she said what flowers? called the florist and he said that it was delivered but since she didn't get them on the day he refunded me about 75% of the cost and only charged me what they normally go for. the next day she got them at work and the receptionist said she forgot to call her when they arrived the previous morning.. i called the florist and said, you didn't mess up, my wife's work did. he insisted that since it didn't turn out he would only charge me the amount for the flowers. i've been using him ever since then.

scottmandue 02-15-2011 04:55 PM

Shaun, so are you saying you gave your GF meat for Valentines day? :D

McLovin 02-15-2011 04:58 PM

A piece of grey meat is the new red rose!

dhoward 02-15-2011 05:00 PM

The meat.
Looked nice too, if you don't mind my saying. ;)

Shaun @ Tru6 02-15-2011 05:04 PM

Well, I'm personally not quite 2.75 pounds and I do want to keep her happy.
