UPS delivered to wrong address

So I come home tonight and there is a box on my front step, huh, I didn't order anything. It is addressed to a name I don't recognize, with my address on it. I've only lived here since June... It came from Converse, I will call UPS in the morning, what do you think the odds of them picking it up are?

slodave 02-14-2011 10:17 PM

Pretty good or drop it off at a local UPS store.

Geronimo '74 02-14-2011 10:18 PM

Who signed for it?

slodave 02-14-2011 10:21 PM

You don't always have to sign for things.

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:22 PM

Nobody apparently, Nobody would have been home...

Dave, there aren't UPS Stores around here.... The local UPS hub is where we drop packages, it is open really weird hours, and way out of my way.... I'll call, and tell them I have left it on my step, if they don't come soon, I guess I got a free pair of shoes....

slodave 02-14-2011 10:23 PM

You get deliveries from UPS at Radio Shack? You can always give it to the driver.

Geronimo '74 02-14-2011 10:25 PM

What size are they? :)

Not signing for delivery?? WTF is up with that??

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:27 PM

Idk g, I didn't open them... Yet....

slodave 02-14-2011 10:28 PM

Freedom! :D Or more revenue. You're choice. Things that are not worth that much are often sent without requiring a signature.

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:28 PM

Given my current luck, they will be one size too big, or one size too small...

slodave 02-14-2011 10:29 PM

You have to make several real attempts to give it back before you can claim it. UPS does know where it was delivered to...

genrex 02-14-2011 10:30 PM

Call me cynical, but this sounds like an example of credit-card theft.

The person whose name is on the package probably had their credit card/ info stolen by some kid, and then the kid went online to order the shoes, and had the shoes shipped to YOUR address, hoping to pick them up before you got home.

It happens all the time..

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:32 PM

I've gotten mail with this name on it once before, since it was mail, it was easy to return to sender...

You forget, this is OK, the local hoodlums aren't smart enough for that.... ;)

aap1966 02-14-2011 10:33 PM

Hey, they're mine! I wondered where they had got to!
Just forward them to me when you get achance..............;)

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:34 PM

No problem, just paypal me the shipping costs...

Don't ship them via UPS. :D

aap1966 02-14-2011 10:36 PM

C.o.d ok??

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:36 PM

Who says I was going to send them at all? Lets keep the fraud chain going... ;)

aap1966 02-14-2011 10:40 PM

I have a dieing uncle in Nigeria who collects Converse. Send me the shoes and your bank account details and I'll send you US$10,000,000. Do it today and you get a Russian bride thrown in!

slodave 02-14-2011 10:42 PM

When I was going for my CCNA, my instructor fell for the Russian bride thing. We tried to be happy for him, but knew what the outcome would be. He was out a few thousand and shattered.

porsche4life 02-14-2011 10:42 PM

Ok, I'll do it... But only b/c I'd like to have a few rounds with the russian.... ;)

john70t 02-15-2011 12:05 AM

You just signed a summons.

Good luck.

A930Rocket 02-15-2011 05:48 AM

Is it ticking like a clock?

masraum 02-15-2011 06:00 AM

It sounds like they didn't actually deliver it to the wrong address if it was addressed to your physical address. Whoever ordered it had it sent to the wrong address.

True.... I'm guessing it is someone that lived here previously.... Probably didn't think to change an address stored on the site....

stomachmonkey 02-15-2011 06:02 AM

Signatures for the shippers is a farce.

Even when required the driver can self sign and leave it.

Ordered a computer for my sister, shipped ground.

My wife was home all day on the expected delivery day. Kept asking her if it came yet.

Get home and it's sitting on the front stoop Driver didn't even ring the bell.

Called to complain, am told UPS does not require a signature for ground have a nice day.

herr_oberst 02-15-2011 06:58 AM

I'll bet they're some of those build-your-own Converse shoes.

Like these Clown Shoes...

UPS left a not cheap radar detector package on my doorstep last week and didn't knock on the door. I have a handgun coming back from SIG soon and I'm pretty sure they'll be knocking on the door and requiring my signature, if not an ID check.

VINMAN 02-15-2011 07:57 AM

Wouldnt happen to have been sent from Linn Co. Oregon, was it??

porsche4life 02-15-2011 07:59 AM

Nope, I would have called the bomb squad if that was the case.... No it came from Converse, I called the UPS number I found on their website, and nothing.... There is a number for converse on the package, I suppose I will call them....

GH85Carrera 02-15-2011 08:11 AM

You can do nothing at all, and in a few days at most the person that ordered it will be looking for it. They will contact UPS for a tracking number and then they will do a forehead slap and realize they had it shipped to the wrong address. Most likely they live in the area and will come pick it up. You can probably Google the name on the box and find some sort of contact information to the owner.

porsche4life 02-15-2011 08:13 AM

Glen its a college town, every reference I find to the name is about 3hrs away up in Perry...

GH85Carrera 02-15-2011 08:25 AM

That is probably his home town where is parents live.

I bet he will find you.

Steve Viegas 02-15-2011 08:28 AM

I believe the law states that if a package is delivered to you incorrectly, it is not your fault, and you are not required to do anything about it. Whether that is the morally correct thing to do or not is up to you.

porsche4life 02-15-2011 08:30 AM

I really don't have time to jack with it more today, I will try more tomorrow.....
