This is the case just about everywhere. When I go to a real Chinese place without my wife, as I often do when I travel, the only way I know I'll get what I'm used to is by ordering in Chinese. Then they know I can handle it. BTW, my wife is the only Chinese person working at PF Chang's. Ha! I wish they'd consult her for product development and supply chain matters.

I like it... not top of the line authentic Chinese (I mean they don't even have scorpions or grubs on the menu!!!)

They have a good bar... make mean Mai Tai... and they have sake... nice decor

LOL, me too! What I don't understand is why my wife actually likes the food there. She's Japanese, and her whole family life revolved around good food--her father started (and later sold) a very successful, traditional Japanese restaurant. She's an outstanding cook. You'd think she would be a little more selective...

I've eaten at Pei Wei more than P.F. Changs. Pretty much the same but cheaper.

The target audience is Americans with American palates.

Likely "authentic" is not what the customer base really wants.

We eat there often, usually when out on the road. Its good, consistant and priced right. Its not the best you will ever have but some dishes are pretty good.

The lettuce wraps and generals chicken with brown rice is hard to beat...

Also Changs take home items are pretty good. Wish they would put rice with them otherwise not bad.

Pei Wei is owned by Changs, and the menu is about the same, just a cheaper and faster version.

If its so bad then how much do you want for that gift card then? Considering that you do not want to eat there sell it to someone who does.

That's about right. Macaroni Grill might be more analogous.

I love the food at PF's and I like the food at Pei and Panda but now getting into really bad - good food at Pick up Stix's. Then again I am a white girl... not used to real ethnic foods...

I enjoy their food too. It's not bad for the price especially the happy hour specials. Can't go wrong with $3 draughts and other good drink specials. Some of our favorites are the ribs, the lettuce wraps (the vegetarian ones are a little spicier ), the mushroom, the Asian slaw, or any of the spicier chicken dishes. We haven't had a dish the I would say was bad, but have had plennty that were really good.

+1

"Real" Chinese food is outright disgusting, and I would swear the only reason non-Chinese people eat it is for the bragging rights

Chang's is crap. Panda is worse.

Chang's is like the Olive Garden of Chinese; Panda the McDonald's.

No happy ending from either one, figuratively or literally.

WTF this statement is based on?

PF Changs is edible..Psuedo-Chinese food...

Real Chinese food is amazing!!!

And unless you have spent a bit of time in China... away from the tourist traps... you haven't had real Chinese...

In the states the Chinatowns.... San Fran...LA? Flushing NY, and I'm sure other big cities in the states have good authentic Chinese...have foods that come close..

All the food in that pic cost around $7USD... the dumplings were made fresh and it was delish

Who was complaining about the heat level of Chinese food? this was taken in Tianjin...

This was our discard tray.... just to many peppers...

Bad pic... but a Chinese "Lamb-Burger"

A tray full of craw daddies...
