Is ▼ P.F. Chang's any good?

- suppose somebody gives me a gift card -- what should I do??

artplumber 02-15-2011 08:30 PM

Shouldn't this be "Are PFChang's customers dorky?"?

nynor 02-15-2011 08:32 PM

it is not good. way way way too salty. and i like salt.

you should go to pf changs and find out just how salty it is.

Hugh R 02-15-2011 08:32 PM

I think its pretty good. Especially if someone gave you a gift card. Maybe salty, but so what, my BP is 110/70.

rusnak 02-15-2011 08:37 PM

The sauces are ok, not authentic Chinese.

rattlsnak 02-15-2011 08:41 PM

i HATE that place...

onewhippedpuppy 02-15-2011 08:42 PM

It's American Chinese, but so are most places. I think it's pretty good. You got a gift card.....it's free. Why are you asking us when you can find out.....for free? Hell, if nothing else you could get an appetizer and spend the rest on booze.:p

the decor is definitely better than a legitimate Chinese restaurant.

the food? Forget it. It generally sux. Lettuce wraps are the only thing that is OK.

My wife works for their corp. HQ, so we get all the free food we can handle. It's the kind of place we go when we're too lazy to cook or need to use up her meal allowance before it expires. Some of their stuff is pretty good if you know what to order. I've had just about everything on the menu. The steamed Chilean sea bass is excellent, as are the spare ribs. Veggies can be hit or miss. Sometimes the asparagus is awesome. I like the deep fried beans too.

luftgekuhlten 02-15-2011 09:00 PM

I'll have the Mongolian Beef, Spinach Stir-Fried with Garlic and Spicy Green Beans.

jyl 02-15-2011 09:33 PM

I've had good stuff there. And bad stuff. Use Rick's tips and go have the good stuff.

azasadny 02-16-2011 04:26 AM

I've never eaten there because the food is not healthy at all, too much fat, sugar and salt for me...

Tim Hancock 02-16-2011 04:38 AM

Double pan fried noodles with chicken..... Just had it Monday night.... mmmmm!!!!

drcoastline 02-16-2011 04:40 AM

I ate at a PF Chang's once. It was awful.

stomachmonkey 02-16-2011 05:17 AM

Depends, in NY you can get much better, here in TX, not so many choices so you learn to compromise.

jcommin 02-16-2011 05:23 AM

Free is good.

kanadary 02-16-2011 06:25 AM

their lettice wrap is pretty good. they do put sugar and salt in the food to make it more appealing. its pretty good as far as american chinese food goes. its always busy.

sammyg2 02-16-2011 06:33 AM

I've had lunch there a few times.
Food was good, not authentic ethnic but still tasted good.
I really liked the lettuce wraps.
The mixing of the sauce was a bit over the top and they clearly made it into a marketing deal.
There are many places around work I'd rather go to, but for once in a while it's OK.
At least it's better than Chili's ;)

I tried a vietnamese place recently for lunch, Pho something or other.
At first I was a little leary because it was so authentic (according to my buddy who grew up in south Vietnam).
Gotta say I am now a fan. Gud stuff.

never been..maybe the next oil change.

BlueSkyJaunte 02-16-2011 06:58 AM

Gringo Chinese....ugh. My wife wheedled me into giving them a try once. I ordered a big variety of dishes to see if there was anything I liked. Some of it was edible but I wouldn't call it "good".

I have to say I get a kick out of "hot" dishes that aren't as spicy as the mildest salsa in my refrigerator.
