I70 Colorado help - to the mountains

Heading to Denver tomorrow night for a drive out to Vail late. Done it many times, but the weather looks very questionable.
I am trying to figure out where the "bad" spots will be and plan ahead a little.
Any locals that can help?

Thanks

Not local, but have made the drive several times. I assume you are familiar with I-70 West through Kansas? Not a trouble spot unless it is getting hit with a snowstorm, and then they will close it. Otherwise, it is clear sailing until you get to Denver.

After you pass through Denver, the roads should be pretty good until you get to the Tunnel ( I think it is 40-50 miles West of Denver?). That can be tricky on the West side, and where you would likely see the traffic problems. Up side is that I-70 is a pretty good road, and they are used to dealing with the snow and ice.

Yeah that tunnel is what I'm trying to identify. One side has snow and the other is dry. I can picture it and the rest stop, but just can't figure out what exit.
I am trying to identify the trouble spots between x190 Vail and x284 Denver so I can have a plan.

Thanks

Eisenhower tunnel, plan on it being bad going down the west side. The next hurdle will be Vail pass itself. They will frequently close the pass this time of year for about 12 hours at a shot to clear it. They may also require when it's open again that you have chains.

It's not uncommon to have to stay in Silverthorne after the tunnel if the pass is closed. Sometimes good to have a few extra bucks for a room for the night if a storm suddenly hits.

It is warm in Denver right now. Here is the state website for highway information and cameras.
