Campagnolo question
The neighbor gave me a bike, it has inexpensive campy derailleurs on it, (and a 6 speed freewheel) Gonna use it as a grocery getter - neighborhood bomber.
Can someone identify these for me? Thanks http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1297905207.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1297905223.jpg |
Does it really have blue color matching tires? That's cool

It's an oddball bike. Called a Gardin, and as far as I can tell it was made in Canada.
It has a Columbus tubeset, but it's the inexpensive Matrix line. Nicely lugged frame, chrome lugged fork; cast (or forged?) dropouts. It has (had) the oddest mix of components I've ever seen; Those Campy derailleurs are the high point; it has indexed downtube shifters called 'Exploit' (!?) from an Italian company called Gipiemme; A crank from a company called Azzurro with an odd 110 ring bolt spacing; Azzurro hubs (6 speed freewheel rear); Mavic MA40 rims, Modolo 'flash' brakes (sidepull, but single pivot) The neighbor got it at a yard sale years ago and never rode it, it's pretty big, I think it's a 61; all the bearings needed repacked, cuz the grease was like peanut butter, but it actually rides pretty nice now! For fun I replaced the crank with a Ritchey Logic triple (I'm only using 2 rings), bolted on a set of practically new Shimano 105 brakes; stuck on some flat bars and blue hutchinson tires; suntour pedals with no cages, so I can ride in any shoes. Doubt I'll put much more than 100 miles a summer on this, but I thought it might be fun to have a beater bike for quick trips. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1297910522.jpg |
I'm thinking Nuevo Record. But not sure. A bike forum or maybe a Campy site might help.

A guy I work with has a Felt(sp) for sale. It's carbon fibre 58" bike w/ upgraded seat, handle bars, and wheels. He wants $750 for it and is upgrading to a new Felt.
The bike looks like it's been well maintained and I'm going to buy it. Losts of nice rides near my place. The Death Ride in Markleeville is only 20mi. I 'll prob. wont ride in that event though, after hearing how tough the ride really is. Gary |
They are not Nuovo Record.
Not Gran sport either. Shape is similar to victory group, but those were highly polished (I thought). Based on photos I've seen, these appear to be closest to the Victory model. |

I think its the late 80s early 90's group set. I am thinking C record. By then I stop buying Campy. I raced on campy super record in the mid 80s and there is no other campy group then beside their Nuevo record. Grand Sport was almost out and no body sells them anymore. That's not Nuevo record for sure because I had one.
Gipiemme is still around. |

I think Jim B. nailed it. It looks like it matches up pretty well with the pictures of the Triomphe gruppo on that component website. Logos and some details are different, but that might just be M.Y. changes.
I sure do wish it would have had the campy shifters. I don't know much about Campy at all, but I would doubt if they would put the Record name on these parts, even C Record. They're just not that nice. But like I said, I don't know. Thanks! |
That is a seriously cool bike.
