traffic law advice
Borrowed a friends truck
pulled over NYS troopers for- no front plate I explained not my truck He wrote a ticket anyway said I am responsible for it Is this the truth? Is there a law that states that? Personally I don't agree with it..I do not maintain someone else equipment Any advice?

I got nailed for that in my 993 in VA and it was not a fix-it ticket. I got nailed for no(t being able to find my) current insurance ID card two weeks ago and that was a fix-it ticket.

The point is...I do not own the truck...how can I be responsible for its maintenance?
I understand if I committed a traffic violation with it...But where does this stop? So if I rent a car I have to know every law it is bound to?

It's not maintenance. It's just having a properly displayed tag. You know, if you had a bag of weed on the front seat that really did belong to the owner of the truck, you'd not get out of that.

Is it considered a moving violation i.e. adds points to your license? If not, fuch em. It's the owners issue. Nothign more than revenue generation.

Is the truck registered in NY? If so, you're on the hook. Same as if you drove it without registration. Ignorance is not an excuse. The only way out is if it is registered in a state that doesn't require front plates.

I got a ticket for one brake light was burn on a friend's SUV, WHILE doing an errand for him :lol: That's not it. When I got to his place. I was nice enough to replace the bulb for him. It turned out that the bulb was just lose. arg.
