Funny. My friends who are architects are indeed a world weary lot.

Yeah a friend of mine sent me that a while ago - good stuff and damn true!

I love the profession but am pretty happy to be doing CM stuff now and not frying my retinas out staring at a computer screen recycling crappy autocad details for 18 hours a day anymore... BTDT!

i liked the part about spending your internship drawing stairs & bathrooms.
at least i can do them in my sleep now :)

Good find. I sent it along to my architect friend who designs resorts, mansions and major commercial buildings. I think she spent a couple early years blocking out HVAC spaces on roofs...

I've heard that large numbers of people are now studying to get their builders license, and that Home Depot is hiring 60-thousand seasonal employees world-wide.

Maybe things will pick up, but for most architects things returning to normal is still not too glamorous.

I saw that video a few months ago, painfully close to the truth, which is why it's so funny.

Hilarious and eerily accurate. I was lucky to spend my 'internship' in an 8 person firm which enabled me to wear a lot of hats; everything from ordering lunches to presenting projects to planning commissions for site plan approval. Although antiquated in many respects, it's a profession of options that enables one to hone in on their niche (or stay liquid during the rough patches), be it design, cm, illustration, etc.

Architect is so last week. Now I want to be a latex salesman.
