Speaking of Tonka, I also had this set:

And Smokey Bear and Forest Rangers set.

I still have the bear, but no clue what ever happened to the rest of the stuff.

(not my pics)

Excellent job! I'm sure your son will love it.
Here is a picture of me and my son with the truck and crane that I played with as a kid and they now belong to him. My son plays with these almost every day. He also grabs the sides of the truck and runs across the yard, just like I did when I played with them. I love going out in the yard with him to play. It brings back a flood of memories.

Master 2 is going to have hundreds of hours of fun with that . Tonkas are the best toys ever!

What a great job you've done .

Wish we still had all of ours - as the kids got too old to play with them we handed them on to friends with younger ones. We had dump trucks and front end loaders and I forget now what else. Everyone played with them - the boys, the girls, (the big boys and big girls too) .

I never had Tonkas as a child, but I found a bunch at a yard sale a few years back for 2.00 each. For ten dollars I got the set, including an excavator and a dump truck.

I bought them and saved them for my nephew, who had just been born. He ''discovered'' them on a shelf in my parents barn when he was at the right age.

Gotta love a Tonka.

Cool Uncle!!!!

I enjoyed my dump truck the most when my parents has a pile of fill sand dumped in the lawn. Lots of while until it was spread out, wish I still had my Tonkas. Here is X-mas morning..

Sure, you are good at body work. But are you any good with gearboxes?

When I was a kid, I would hang out in bed when I was sick, surrounded by comic books and matchbox cars. A few years ago, I was sick in bed, surrounded by car magazines, when I realized the toy cars were out in the driveway...

Hey SuperDave,

I'm about to embark on the same project...

how did you re-attach all of the body parts? did you use blind rivets like the factory or some other method?

cheers
