One More Problem
4,400 dams susceptible to failure
anybody got a spare 70 billion $$? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/science/22dam.html?hp |
Damn! Do not tell that to Al Quaeda...
|
hey Hugh - how much is $70 billion divided by the # of people who actually pay taxes?
|
Meh. It's only Bakersfield.

Why would I care, I'm uphill from my neighbors. Besides, I thought of another "freebee" that I get. I have a flood control easement in the back of my property and LA County Flood Control comes and cleans it out in the middle of the night when its raining. Its a really, really nice engineered babbling brook when it rains, and it costs me nothing extra.
Oh, do you mean those who pay any taxes at all, or those 5% of wage earners who pay 60% of all income taxes? Considering that 95% of wage earners only pay 40% of income taxes the answer would be a little skewed one way. |
well, I did consider posting that a major flood could only improve Bakersfield by scouring it down to bedrock... but I didn't...
federal dams will be paid for by federal tax dollars BTW |
