Service Pack 1
For Win 7
Any of the gurus know what is in it? |
90% is rollup of the stuff you should probably already have installed.
The biggest thing that I know of is the RDP revamp that makes it hardware accelerated. I've haven't yet got it installed on a pair of machines yet to see if it's noticeable, but it's supposed to be better. |
It's a roll up to the current patch levels with some small unremarkable add-ons:
Improved HDMI support Power consumption system re-worked Dynamic memory support Remote-FX update for RDP |
Wow! It took a long time to download and install, with only 89MB. My Slate is taking forever with the update...
|
It IS a big momma update from a time standpoint. No discernible difference.

zdnet sez mostly humdrum, bug fixes etc. - nothing like XP
but thanks for being a Beta tester for me... |
It took me 1 1/2 hours last night to install it, but it's running fine. so far, so good on Win7 64bit.
|
I'm running an original copy of Win7 from launch day RTM (release to manufacturers). Zero updates - zero issues.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Nothing against updates or service packs, but if you are happy with your performance, let it alone. I have lots of computers around the house and in my company. We make it a point to get it up and running and then don't mess with it unless there is an issue or concern. Basically the 'I'm still running XP philosophy'. |
