Miura SV on the wet roads of Portland

I was driving in downtown Portland yesterday and happend to see a Lamborghini Miura SV. At a stoplight and the driver said it only has 5000 original kilometers. This was the first time I have ever seen a Miura in person, and the sight and sound was spectacular! The pictures I took do not do the form justice, probably because I was shaking with excitement.
The car looks like it sold at an auction in France last year for about $900,000.

I'm not a fan of Lamborghini, but that car gives me a raging boner!

I had a, opportunity to but a lambo Miura in the late 80's. It had a small crease in the door and a few minor electrical problems but other than that it was in very good shape. Price? $9k.

I'd guess it would be worth a little more than that now.
At the time I had a baby daughter, a mortgage, and had just changed jobs and didn't have $9k to spare.

LMAO!!!
Look at the last picture. I'd need a box of kleenex in the passenger's side footwell, too.

This is probably the ultimate on my "want list". Right up there with a GT40 and the Gullwing.

I've driven one example, not an SV;

It was a rather beaten up Miura that hadn't been restored. I took it out on some straight & narrow Illinois farm roads. The tires were dangerously old. The cabin was hot & smelled like oil, gasoline, and cows. The gearbox felt crunchy.

But once the mixture leaned out a bit and it warmed up, that V12 could sing, and I let it do so all the way up to about 140 MPH. I felt that at any moment, I could die in a ball of flames.

Seriously amazing achievement of a car for when it was made.

I love the Muira SV! Drove along side one on I5 in Orange County in a Mustang, could not keep up. Stood next to one at Barrett Jackson maybe 15-20 years ago that I think sold for $110K. $900K now!? Man, now I can't even dream about winning the loto and buying one! Here are photos of one at the Pavillions WEEKLY car show in Scottsday from last year.

My father had a Miura right before I was born. He kept the hood ornament (maybe a spare?!) and gave it to me not long ago. I've got the tattered owner's manual somewhere too.

Probably my #1 favorite car. I still get tearful thinking about the fact that he sold it because he--and I quote--"got tired of it."

Leno has one and it's a "10", of course. One night about 12 years ago, I was sitting in my well-beaten Alfa Spider outside of a Pizza joint in Beverly Hills and he pulled into the space next to me. The beauty and the sound of the thing was like driving around a Miro painting or something. It was 20 mule-team Borax.

He looked over and recognised me, (we used to be neighbors and he's a very friendly guy), and said something like, "we Italian car guys need to stick together". He then showed me the car and we sat and shot the bull, (yes, intended), about cars and his show. He was on his way home from work and just had to have some Mulberry St. pizza, me too. He told me to drive fast home and watch his show because Sean Penn was the guest and it was really good. I did.

That was a sweet summer night.

Denis - Cool story! He has two now. I was lucky to tour his collection in Burbank a few years ago and we spent a fair but of time talking Miuras....it is probably the few cars that I would sell everything I own to buy.

Miura's were over $100K cars in the late 80s. You couldn't scrape up $9K for a $100K car?

They were about the same price as a Pantera, in the high 20's to low 30's for a clean driver condition car. Then as now, perfect museum pieces would attract bigger money. Miuras weren't that big of a deal back then.
They didn't become really popular until the mid to late 90's, just like the Jalpa may do.

And no, I barely had enough to pay the bills and put food on the table for my young family back then.
Life got easier.

I love the car. It'd be on my want list if they roof fit my head.
