Colt reunion...never say never..

When I first moved to PA from FL I hadn't yet sold my house in FL so I had two house payments. Needless to say as a retiree, that made money very short. Desperately I need some cash, so I went to a local spoon shop to sell one of my better spoons to get straight. I took my Colt series 80 Mk V govt. model in .380 that was factory nickel, and sadly he only gave me $500 for it but it was more than I had so I took it. Well a few months later, I had sold the house and went back to the store to see if I could buy it back. It was gone. "sold it the next day" the owner said. " I sold it to a Colt collector so don't count on being able to get it back. He never sells any of them". I was sad...gone for ever.

Fast forward 4 years. I'm at the local spoon shop I work in and a guy comes in looking for a smaller carry gun. I show him a Sig .380 and he says it's what he wants and asks if we do trades. I say yes, what do you have? So he pulls out this ( yes you guessed it) Colt MkV Govt. .380 with elephant ivory grips. It was my old Colt.

I almost fainted, but hid my delight. We gave him $500 in trade and I bought it back from the shop for what we gave him. Now it is back with it's brothers, .45 & .32, tucked away in the safe. Home again at last.

Very cool! I have a similar story but can't really put it out on the Internet. I'll tell you about it the next time we talk. I'm very glad you got your Colt back, it's beautiful and one of my favorites'

Very nice.

I think I would have told him the 'rest of the story' once the deal was done.

Now those inside hammer 32's, 380's an 25's are a whole different deal...I like that spoon in 380 as it is a flat spoon that shoots well...

Yeah they stopped making them in 88. They are jumping in value 800-1000 now. Then add 300 for the ivory. It's not my fave but a cool part of the brace and I really missed it.
