Question for the SLR camera folks...

Guys,
We have a Pentax ME that seems to work, except the LED's don't display at all. My son borrowed this camera from my father and it's probably sat unused in the closet for 10-15 years. My son got 2 new D386 batteries and the LED's still don't work. I bought another used Pentax ME camera on eBay to try and replace the camera for my father, but the replacement camera does the same thing with the same batteries. I cleaned the contacts with crocus cloth, still no go.

I checked on Google, and apparently the battery the camera uses is a "S76" but the batteries we have are "D386" and a suitable replacement would be the "357". could we simply have the wrong batteries for the camera? I'm not a camera guy at all, but common sense tells me that 2 cameras probably wouldn't fail in the same way, so I'm off to find a replacement battery today. Any info from you guys? Thanks!

Just tried some Rayovac 675 batteries, which were listed as a suitable replacement and the camera still doesn't work. No LED's at all...

Are you sure changed all the batteries? Some cameras have a small battery tucked away in them that maintains the memory when the main batteries are out or discharged. It might operate the display too. It may be dead.

Thanks! I was able to get the LED to operate on my father's camera but the shutter is stuck, so that's another issues altogether. On the camera I just got from eBay, the LED is dead, even with the new battery, so it's going back to the seller. I'm still stuck without a functioning Pentax ME Super...
