I have a 2010 Chev Silverado Crew Cab and it has the same trans. I'm not sure I'd call it tip-tronic but it does have the ability to shift at a chosen RPM as opposed to automatically. I never use the manual mode.

It is very much a nanny transmission. It won't hold gear and will kick down even if you don't want it to. It is no PDK.

It will hold a gear to redline and bounce off the rev limiter if you've manually selected a low gear. But it will downshift, unless you've selected 2nd then it will ALWAYS remain in second, never downshifting to first.

A Porsche TipTronic isn't a perfect solution either, and it's also no PDK.

Wait a minute. I saw that some little Chey had something called a Tip Tronic, but I've never heard of one in a full size truck or SUV. I thought Porsche owned the name.

Aside from the fact that the ad is s scam, are there Tip trucks? Google has nothing on this.

Tip Tronic is just a name, like Kleenex or Xerox, but there are lots of cars and trucks that have manually (sequentially) controlled automatics.
Like, so many you can't count.

Here's a photo of the 2007 GMC Duramax/Allison 6 speed shift lever. Notice the +/- that allows you to manually select gears when you move to the 'M' on the PRNDL
