Has anyone ever had problems dealing with DC Automotive?

I'm dealing with a serious problem with dc automotive and was just wondering if I'm alone or is this common practice for them. We shall see by 12:00pm est today if they fix this.

I bought a fender from them several years ago. The guy I talked to was an a$$ about it and acted like he was doing me a favor.

No- have used them a number of times, and they have been great for used parts I can't get from Pelican. Sorry about your troubles, and hope it works out.

No, I've spent quite a bit with them recently on some items and have always had great service.

I paid for a portion of an engine wiring harness. They sent a portion of brake wiring that was burned through. After trying for weeks to get the correct part I just gave up.

Never got a refund and won't use 'em again.

I wouldn't use them. what do you need? Place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section.

Pretty much my experience as well. I will never use them.

928INTL has the best parts and service, it may cost more but here you do get what you pay for

I think one of the guys I know around here had some significant issue with them, but I forgot what it was and if it ever was resolved properly. It was a few years back. How's that for a vague response?

Welcome back Jim!

Back during the Porschelist days, Robert of DC, had a lot of fans. So I ordered a rearview mirror from him. I spoke with him directly and he promised to send the best one he had and that it would be great.

When I got it it was a piece of crap. It'd probably sat in the rain and sun for years with the reflective backing fading and peeled off. HTF can anyone think that was great? I never complained and just decided I'd never do business with him again. If the guys was going to screw me while we were part of a smaller group of enthusiasts (then) for lunch money, I didn't want anything to do with him and just didn't bother to send the mirror back.

Bought my "rebuilt" 3.6L from him, biggest POS engine ever.

Yes, that's a cut-off drill bit holding the chain ramp.

Do a search... lot more got taken than are happy... but some are very happy.

I've gotten some small used parts from them years ago and they were just OK.

I once called them for a one year only window frame which is AL and has the opening vent. Might be '69, but I don't remember, it's just one year, that I do know.

They told me $125 for any window frame. Somehow I couldn't believe that, so I didn't order. Now, I can't say they ever did wrong by me, but that did seem careless. I really didn't want an older one that was brass/chrome and I figured that was what I was gonna get.

Moral, see if you can buy parts in person or from a known seller in the FS section.

My problem is this. I ordered cams, euro bumperettes and euro impact strips from dc three weeks ago. After a few phone calls they told me they couldnt find the strips. I said they are a must have and just get them even at whatever cost. Another week goes by and i get an e-mail from dc saying they found the strips minus the reflectors. I told them just send them i will find the reflectors myself. That was the 22nd of feb. When the order arrived at my shop i just happened to be standing in front and joyfully signed for the fedex package. When the guy handed me the package i thought to myself it felt very light. I get the box inside and open it and my order is incomplete. Bumperettes and strips are there but no cams.

So i call and ask if they shipped in two boxes and they said no only one box and that they would get to the bottom of this. A few hours later i get an e-mail with a picture of my order on a table and it said the cams are under the bumper strips in the box.

At this point i'm pissed so i call and they said if i wanted another set of cams i would need to purchase them as i would not get over on them. So naturally i started sreaming at the guy and he says would you like to talk to the shipping manager i said of course i do. He puts me on with a guy who says the cams were shipped out in that box and i must not be smart enough to understand what he was saying. I cant even begin to put into words what was going thru my mind.

So i dont know at what point that he hung up the phone because i just going for at least 5 min. I call back and robert himself answers and says to me i dont care if you stole the cams or not i just want happy customers. He said he would give his staff a good talking to and would ship me out another set of cams.

I called back this morning and said i want the cams overnighted to my home address and he said they dont offer overnight service. He said they had my card on file and would ship them at my expense and i said ok. just Because i wanted this to be over with.

Lesson learned here, I paid 350 for the cams plus 40 dollar shipping three weeks ago was called a thief and stupid and then paid 85 dollars today for overnight shipping.

To Robert and the good ole boys at dc auto this was the last dime you will ever see from me. And hopefully someone will read this and it will make them think twice about dealing with this company.

No weight from when box went thru FedEx system?

EarlyPorsche 02-26-2011 05:42 AM

About 4 years ago I ordered a fender. Was told it was in stock. Was told it was in really good shape. Was told a fair price. Well a couple weeks go by and no fender...it never shipped...I don't know what the story behind it was but I canceled the order and just repaired my fender. The tone of the people on the phone is too condescending. I know you can't be too nice in the used parts business but come on.

techweenie 02-26-2011 05:56 AM

One transaction, over 10 years ago. Order came incomplete and the parts were rusty. They offered to complete the order with a second shipping charge. For a jack handle. I said "don't bother." They didn't. I never have ordered anything else again.

bigfishassasin 02-26-2011 05:57 AM

Fedex told me they have no record of weight except for what dc auto printed on the label. I'm sure the shipping dept. made a mistake. Seems it took them awhile to find a good set of cams for me the first time but were able to ship me another set in less than 24 hrs!!

No worries i have about 12000 more to buy in parts and will just have to find another company to deal with.

MotoSook 02-26-2011 06:25 AM

You should send Robert a copy of every order receipt going forward with a note about how much a set of cams and shipping really cost him :)
