Good luck - and don't worry.
I've been dealing with it for almost 10 years. High PSA, finger test concerns the doc, biopsy every year for a while, now every 2 years. No symptoms and no evidence that anything is wrong except the PSA numbers and the doc saying "I don't like what I feel." ( Hey, you think YOU don't like it?) It could be nothing, but good on you for following up on a thorough check up.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, and emails, and PMs guys. I'll post as soon as I know something.

Wow Hugh. I hope your check out Tuesday will be okay. I've been out of town for the last two weeks and have not been keeping up on my regular Pelican news.
Lets hope that all they found was an errant, undigested milk dud from years past. :) Good luck Hugh.

I hope everything goes well. Bottom lines is to have fun while you are healthy. That door closes very quickly, and without warning.

Don't worry Hugh it'll be fine. I go for my annual physical on Tuesday. Do you belong to Motion Picture and Television Plan? I go to the clinic by Henry Mayo, use Dr. Terri Henry. She has slender fingers but she's thorough! :)

Craig, I'm not in Motion Picture, but have a good plan with Disney. Went to the doc today, he's doing a biopsy next Monday with a results meeting on Friday of next week.

What I can't figure out is how he does the digital exam with me bent over and him having both of his hands on my shoulders? I've had "something" up my rear so much recently that I'm thinking I sort of like it. I wish I'd realized that 40 years ago, think of all the lost opportunities........

I've got some advice, Hugh, however minor. I had a biopsy done, and it was much more painful than I thought it would be. I didn't lose consciousness, but did get woosy from the pain. The biopsy involves sticking a dildo thing in there that seems larger than it needs to be. This dildo thingie has a spring-loaded needle thingie in it that shoots out (when the doc pulls the trigger) and takes a core sample. My doctor took only six core samples, but the number is often twelve. Afterward, you will see blood in places and fluids where you haven't seen it before.

Anyhoo......my current GF works in a urology clinic. Three of them, in fact. She was unimpressed with the fact that my urologist did not sedate me. In her experience, sedation (and twelve rather than six core samples) are standard. My suggestion to you: Sedation.

You just keep that sense of humor, Hugh, and you'll be set.

Get back to Austin so I can buy you a margarita or 3 at Guero's.

Good luck Hugh, Second opinion if nec. Listen to the Dr's. You're to young to have any problems. :>)

Had the biopsy this afternoon. "Uncomfortable" is the word that comes to mind. Not as "big" an item as I would have thought, but then again, I didn't see all his tools, he kept them mostly under wraps until I was on my side in the fetal position. I know he took pictures (maybe I can get a jpeg to upload?). The most "uncomfortable" was taking the samples (6 I think), you'd hear him cock the gun, so to speak, and then you feel this "Thwack" inside of you, un-nerviing to say the least. I go back on Friday for the results. I'm also pissing blood which is normal. I think I'll have a Scotch before dinner.

I think I'll have a Scotch and toast you.

Let's have another.

A buddy had one a few years ago, and while Bending Over he noticed a large, signed picture of Hurley Haywood looking right at him.....
