1950 Cadillac 62 series - know these cars?
Any thoughts on value for this beast?:
1950 Cadillac 62 Series beautiful collector classic Paint appears to be original, and is not as good as the photos appear. Its is worn. Body is dry, no rust, and undercarriage and floor panels also look dry and mostly rust free. Chrome/brightwork are in good condition. Interior was redone at some point, good condition, but totally unoriginal. Engine/running gear is original. Its starts/runs/drives. ![]()

If you were 60 years old you would be a little worn to. Nice car and a survivor...at 12k??? does not seem over priced. The cost of redoing the interior should be explored as to the cost. I would probably subtracted 1/2 the value of the interior redo from the price. Since it is a survivor I would not do much else to the car, while trying to keep it as original as possible.
I would also check and see what other 50 62's are going for. As for upside potential it being a 4 door makes it the least desirable and thus less costly to purchase. If that were a convertible or even a Coupe DeVille it would be gone... BTW I have always like the pre 54 Caddys...Dad had a 55 CDV..

That could be a very good buy as I've seen prices all over the map. My relatives had them all through the 50s and that was one of the first cars I remember being in (along with a Morris Minor my Gradfather owned).
It looks like glacier green- this might help: http://www.lidreamboats.org/images/cadillac_50_color_chips2.jpg http://www.lidreamboats.org/images/1950.jpg Here's some background- Tabs is correct about the convertibles and coupes and their rarity; note this one went for $40K at an RM auction. 1950 Cadillac Series 62 Images, Information and History | Conceptcarz.com I'd be curious to know if you buy it. |

+1 on that. The only V12 flathead I've ever seen in my life was at his shop - and he had TWO of them. Before that day, I didn't even know they existed. Very interesting cars at John's.

i saw it a long time ago. it boils down to "too many doors". 2drs are the only ones worth anything.

C'mon John....At 60 years plus, you can overlook too many doors.
![]() Not like there are that many survivors out there. I'd be proud to own that ride. That would be fun to restore and my bet would be that Detroit would be a helper if it's marketed right.....

There's one or 2 down here on CL as well. One guy talks about series 63 as the cat's ass. Don't remember the year or price, but it should be still up.
If you want to compare prices all over, use Tempest and follow the link to the car version of Tempest. I'm trying to find a '96-'97 Jag XJ6 that is NOT a scam or a POS. So far, they come in only those two categories. I didn't call kaisen because I'm only going to pay 4-5K for the thing. |
