Best non-HID fog light bulbs out there?

My 993 has the projection foglights with 881 bulbs. They're pretty dim and yellow compared to my 4500k HID's and so I tried the LED version. But they're pretty dim, just whiter. So I think I need to go back to halogen, but want them to be as white and bright as possible without bothering with an HID install. I think they'd be too hot for those housings and I don't want to run ballasts down there. What should I get?

Look at replacement bulbs from sylvania - ultra white/silver star for your app -they are IMO best highest threshold before HID - available anywhere

I had Silver Stars in my headlights back before HID's became reasonably priced. At that time I thought they were awesome. But I recall they didn't last real long. In fact, I still have a set as my high beams and they look like tiny candles compared to my HID's. Have they gotten any better in the last seven yrs. or so? Also, 881's are a bit of an obscure model #. Is something more common compatible?
