Snipers from the deep

Make sure you have your speakers turned up... this is great stuff. :D

I don't know whether these sounds were recorded from what's being shown, or if they're "enhanced" for effect, but it made me smile.

Poor little skrimps never knew what hit 'em.

Very cool. I don't think we've ever gotten sonic weapons to work so well.

^^^

Not yet but that little crab could be the start of some new research.

That is amazing! Makes ya wonder about prehistoric animals and how they may have used various techniques to capture prey. Very very cool.

more aquatic tidbits:

largemouth bass can suck water so hard that it boils - they often use this for prey capture (one reason your lure just totally vanishes from the surface)

dolphins use ultrasonic beams (focused by the melon of lipid on their heads) to attack fish - it disorients them by blowing out the later line system of the fish; they are then easy to capture & eat

that was very cool. i have heard them diving and wondered what the hell it is that makes that sound.

i wanna be able to do that and watch gad-daffy duck roll over stunned near death and my gas per gallon cost go down.

hmmmm.................my next evil diabolical idea to take over the solar system. just snap my fingers! i think this has some potential!

Here is another youtube video that explains how the shrimp creates the sound and pressure bubble.
