Another dumbarse Illinois anti-spooner... (public list of all spoon owners)

WTF....

What does this achieve? I'd like to hear the defense for this...even from the anti-spooners here.

Atty. general: Illinois should release FOID card list - chicagotribune.com

SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says state police must release the name of everyone in the state who is authorized to own a gun.

State police determine who gets a Firearm Owners Identification card, which allows people to own guns. The police have always kept the list private.

But Madigan's public access counselor released a letter Monday night saying the information should be public.

The Associated Press had requested the list of FOID cardholders but state police said that would violate the privacy of gun owners. The attorney general's office ruled that argument invalid.

State police officials have not said whether they will comply with the ruling.

There are Republican-sponsored bills in the Illinois House and Senate that would prohibit disclosure of the information.

It would make it easier to pick a safe place to burglarize.

The irony of this picture runs deep. Very deep.

Invasion of privacy.

Don't like it.

What's to gain by it?

One of the key scenes, the Russians use the gun registration to find the gun owners:mad:

Stop by my house any time and you can see my firearm. Which barrel would you like to be looking down? Shotgun, HP rifle or semi-auto pistol!

This kind of stuff will only support legal gun ownership.

tabs 03-01-2011 12:04 PM

U forget it also gives a list of people to go rob...

widgeon13 03-01-2011 12:13 PM

The bad guys will love it! Yes sir, does much more harm than good.

MotoSook 03-01-2011 12:15 PM

Byron, it wasn't gun registration, but the Cuban commander told his guys to go to the sporting goods store and get the form 4473's and they would then round uptue gun owners. Just happened to watch it on the DVR recently.

The only upside is we'll get to find out which of the anti-gunner libs have permits. ...and the names and addresses of every politician in Chicago.

I say if they release this, we stage a fake-rally in front of a few aldermans residences that have a FOID card decrying their violent tendencies.

MotoSook 03-01-2011 01:44 PM

I'd be up for a protest! Why should the union free loaders and middle easterners get to have all the fun? :)

If they want to publish the FOID info, then give us CCW damnit!

legion 03-01-2011 01:52 PM

This is purely a tactic to intimidate Illinois gun owners ahead of IGOLD on March 10. They are expecting 10,000 people to march on Springfield and demand CCW. (Last year they had 6,000, and it got zero press coverage north of I-80.)

I highly doubt she will actually do it. Too many of the publicly anti-gun Chicago pols have huge firearms collections. Heck, it's long been rumored that Dailey himself carries (which is legal for him to do--but not us plebians).

legion 03-01-2011 04:54 PM

Oh, and f*** Lisa Madigan and the broom she flew in on.

And WTF is up with the AP taking such a blatantly partisan stance on this issue?

Rick Lee 03-01-2011 05:06 PM

Gawd, I can't imagine not living in a gun-friendly state. I'm so spoiled in AZ and VA was almost as good. I picked up a Glock 23 in a McDonald's parking lot yesterday while open carrying a SIG P220. I love this state.

MotoSook 03-01-2011 05:41 PM

The AP is creating its own news!

Just got this e-mail. Time to cut them another check...

STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION SECURES TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST RELEASE OF FIREARM OWNERS’ PERSONAL INFORMATION

PEORIA, IL - - The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):

The ISRA is pleased to announce that it has secured a temporary restraining order against the release of personal information belonging to persons holding Illinois Firearm Owner Identification cards (FOID). The ISRA and four additional plaintiffs filed for the temporary restraining order after Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced that her office believes that release of FOID information to the public is proper under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The ISRA is very concerned that public release of personal information from the FOID database will jeopardize the safety of law-abiding firearm owners.

The temporary restraining order was granted by judge Scott Shore of the 10th Judicial District, Peoria County. Judge Shore has scheduled a status call for March 15th, at which time a date will be set for hearing arguments regarding the issuance of a preliminary injunction. With the temporary order in effect, your FOID information is safe, for now.

“Law-abiding Illinois firearm owners can breathe a little easier today,” commented ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson. “Judge Shore’s order will prevent the Illinois State Police from releasing personal information on FOID holders to news organizations, gun control groups, gangs, and other criminals”.

ISRA is a longtime client of my company. They do the Lord's work.
