I've become a huge Glock fan.
Some of you know I am a longtime SIG enthusiast. A few weeks ago at SHOT, I fondled the SIG SP2022 (.40), talked with one of their reps., rekindled my love for that poly platform and bought one that night. Stole it for $369 delivered, NIB.
I then wandered over to the Glock exhibit, where the Gunny was signing autographs. ![]() I got a phone call then and got distracted, didn't get a chance to talk with one of the Glock reps. Oh well. The SIG arrived and SUCKED. It was locking up before the slide got far enough back for the slide catch to engage. I sent it back to SIG and they replaced a bunch of stuff and it came back a week later, working fine. But it was soooo inaccurate. I was embarrassed to shoot such groups at a public range. Anyway, I put the SP2022 up for trade, looking for a Glock 23 (.40) and had a deal the next day. We did the trade in a McD's parking lot on Monday and I just came back from putting 100 rounds through her. WOW! I am in love with this gun. Yes, Glocks are fugly, but this baby is accurate. Ok, it was only 15', but this is eight rounds. ![]() I also had my beloved, classic SIG P220 with me, which I love so much, I don't even like to take it out of the house. It did ok too. This was 17 rds. of .45ACP also at 15'. Both did almost as well at twice that distance. ![]() I used cheapo, filthy Russian Tula ammo with both. I'm mailing the Glock back to Glock tomorrow for a free refurb and factory night sights install for $57. Love this gun. Will buy more as soon as the next batch of police turn-ins hits the local stores.

My main issue with Glocks was that I didn't like how the grip fit in my hand.
The good news is ammo prices are way down... |

I love my Sigs (P239, P220, P226, P229, P230SL) but I've tried my BIL's Glocks and they just do not fit my hand as well as the Sig, Walther, Beretta, some of the S&W's and my Remington Model 51. I believe Glocks are excellent guns, as evidenced by the many, many people who love them, but it's a personal preference thing to me and I just don't like the way they feel in my hand.

My Glock doesn't actually fit that well in my hand either. But I was comparing the dimensions online with my SIG P239 and the Glock is actually narrower and the DA trigger pull is only 1 lb. more than the SIG's SA pull. My lower three fingers don't fit perfectly on the Glock grip, but it's good enough and it's accurate. I'll get a 22 next, which is a tad larger.

Have you tried a gen 4 yet? They have adjustable grips.

No, mine is gen. 3. I shot a cop's service gun a few mos. ago, but didn't notice which gen. it was.

Glock ergonomics.......
Had a Glock 21 which I did not like. Grip was too big even for my large hands. Later I bought a Glock 32 (357 Sig) which fit quite well. However, when my son graduated from college, he took it with him to his new house across the state.

I really like the Glock, but had the same problem, the grip was just a little to big, (at least on this model) just didn't seem right. Now the SNL has a Model 22 (at a very reasonable price) and I moved sideways to the Springfield XD tactical. This was three years ago, still have a couple of Glocks, but love the XD (and others) as well.

I did not really care for the way Glocks fit in my hand either the first time I tried one. After a good friend who competes all over the US in IDPA talked me into buying one, I initially questioned my choice as I was not accustomed to "heavy" triggered DOA semi autos and the Glock felt chunky in my smallish hands. After a few hundred rounds downrange and after changing my grip style to that like most all of the top run/gun shooters use, I fell in love with it.
Last spring, my wife bought me a private lesson with somewhat local Bob Vogel who has won many national championships shooting Glocks. His grip style is incredible for rapid target acquisition and transitions.... I use it now for nearly every handgun I shoot although it feels best with the Glock (probably because I pumped just under 10k rounds through it last spring/summer/fall). Here is a video that briefly explains it. Nearly every defensive shooting competition shooter I know uses the same style of grip even the few who do not shoot Glocks.

Best deal I've seen is $299, but that's obviously in pretty used condition. When Scottsdale Gun Club gets them, they start out at $389 for the best ones and go down to about $329. The first of the pick are usually in great shape with night sights and two mags. But then there are people waiting in line before the store opens like fanboys waiting for an iPad. And Glock will refurb them for FREE. The catch is non-FFL's have to ship priority overnight with FedEx or UPS, which is about $60. Glock returns them on their own dime. I'm taking mine to my FFL, who charges $10 plus USPS postage, so it'll run me $21 plus $57 for the night sights and I'll have a new gun. Trouble is Robar has two of my other SIG's now, so I'm running low on cheap carry guns and I hate carrying expensive guns.

The Sigs won't win any beauty contests, either but I really like everything about them. My favorite gun I ever shot was a Browning Hi Power in .40S&W. I'll have to get one of those some day. Just like there are different cars, different guitars, etc... there's a gun for everyone. I recommend for folks to try out several guns before buying one and to take some lessons to avoid starting bad habits...

Read the story of how these guns got invented and the company got off the ground. It's pretty amazing. They designed these to compete with HK and SIG for European military and police contracts. I think the first Glock was made from scratch a few mos. after the RFP went out. Yes, I agree they are absolutely fugly. But you have to respect the engineering, both in composites and the simplicity of the safe fire system. No manual safeties, no SA first shot or decocker or squeeze cocker. Just rack the slide and it's all business. There are several redundant, internal safeties, but none prevent the shooter from firing in an instant when intended. I think the key to carrying this one safely is to ALWAYS have the trigger guard covered. And this gun first perfectly in the same CCW holster I use for my SIG P239, which is getting an NP3 redo at Robar now.

I do respect the engineering. We sell lots of them at the shop. I guess I'm just old school. I admit it.

Mine was $330 out the door for my G17 which was gently used at all. It was one of the cleanest used spoons I have seen in a long time. It is a soft and accurate shooter at the range and eats up +p SD ammo with ease.
