heads up........ Duc bevel drive fs
|
Gorgeous. One of these days...
Is $24k really in the ballpark on these now? |
Love that style, too bad it didn't get more use, looks perfect though of course.
|
Hard to price. 1200 miles. All original. Crazy.
|
I'll file those pics in the "OMG, WANT!" folder, thanks.
Sigh. |
That got my little heart racing.
|
Wow. I had an opportunity to buy one of these. In a barn, being sold by the father of the owner. The owner was in prison. I didn't buy it because a) it was a 10 hour drive, b) somewhat unknown condition, c) someone had smashed in the trans case to get the kick-start lever out.
Still think about that one. |
From the "too good to be true" file (or actually, probably "too depressing"):
Back in about '76 or so, when my buddies and I first started riding street bikes, I was on my almost brand new '76 Sportster (bought when it was just a couple months old when the original owner dumped it, and wife said "get rid of it..."). A couple buddies had old Triumphs in various states of "repair". One had a Honda 750. One had a Kawasaki H2 750 triple big bored to 900. One had a Z1 900. One had a JPS Norton. And, believe it or not, one had a real Ducati 750 Super Sport. No one really thought all that much of it back then. To us, it was merely the biggest pain in the ass out of an entire fleet of pain in the ass bikes. He was waiting for parts more often than riding it. When it ran, though... open reverse megaphones at 9,000 rpm... oh my God... He finally sold it for next to nothing out of sheer frustration. Real, documented 750 SS's trade in the six figures today... |
