treating a rusty ol' tailpipe, runners, etc.

not on the Pooschey, but I'd like to make the exhaust on my VW Vanagon last as long as I can

is the stuff that Eastwood makes better than the paint I can buy OTC?

if I don't use the Eastwood stuff, I plan to just sand a bit and then either use Rustoleum primer & paint or use a rust reduced as primer

thoughts?

If you are talking about what eastwood calls "manifold dressing" IT works very well. I used it many times on cast iron exhaust manifolds, and even used it several times on steel headers. It holds well. I have even used it on old rusty heat exchangers that I sandblasted first, and it also retained its color and adhered well.

thx - yes, the manifold dressing

you like that better than Rustoleum?

do you put a primer on first?

Calyx manifold dressing is a lot easier to use than any paint and it works better than any paint I've ever tried.

Eastwood's products cannot really be compared to Rustoleum, they are THAT much better! Wuerth also makes a heat resistant paint that works well, but the Eastwood manifold paint is better, I've tried all of them...

thanks!

sounds like Eastwood just sells the Calyx dressing, so I might be able to find it locally and avoid shipping (?)

know if any parts chains carry it?

Get it straight from George. He's a nice guy and his price is better than Eastwood's.

I found the container of Calyx I had left over from doing my truck. It took about half a teaspoon to do this manifold. I painted the header pipe because it runs cool enough that it doesn't burn off high temp paint. I have to redo my manifold because I got the Calyx too thick in some spots and it popped off. If you want, I'll send you what I have after I take out enough to redo the manifold. PM me if you're interested.

Randy,
The lost container of Calyx has been, found, relost and finally refound and is on its way to you.

Thanks!
