CCW in Illinois...closest to it yet

The Bill is on the move, but still has to get the votes.

Quote:

The proposal to allow Illinois residents to carry concealed firearms in public passed a House committee on Tuesday. But there are numerous hurdles to jump before people can start applying for permits, which would take six months to a year at the earliest, said Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association.

Good luck. I love AZ.

Might be tough to get enough votes to prevent a veto by our crooked gov'nr.

Fingers crossed...

We can only dream....

Good luck!

I would say to hope for a court ruling to get it for you outside of the legislature or governor. But that would end up ignored or with so many stupid restrictions that you'd be better off with a CCW law enacted the usual way.

fingers crossed. but knowing IL, it'll either get dropped or there'll be some crazy stipulations.

Good Luck, still happy to be in Indiana.

Best of luck!

That statement is full of fail.

take an oath that they will not join a "criminal street gang."
Really? LOLZ

"You have to pass the exam. It is a written exam - a 100-question exam - as it stands now...
Get ready for all types of organizations to poke holes in a "written exam".

And you have to have the right attitude. Any one of those things can prevent you from getting a permit.
Will a government employee determine my "attitude" at the time of application? HAH!

I've never been into firearms (not saying I'm against), so I can't say I've been following this. But for all the supporters, if that article is any indication of it passing, it doesn't look good.

What difference will this make? You don't need a CCW anywhere to have a gun in your house and that's usually where domestic violence occurs. And anyone prone to get violent with their spouse isn't going to be deterred or restrained by the inability to get a CCW.

yea rules are kinda whack already...cause convicted domestic battery people can't have a FOID anyway....

Quote:

Is a person who has been convicted of domestic battery/ domestic violence eligible for a FOID card?
According to Federal and State laws, anyone who has been convicted of domestic battery/ domestic violence is ineligible to possess a FOID card. This prohibition also applies to police officers and those in the military. Contact the ISP Firearms Services Bureau at (217) 782-7980 for further information.

Yeah, that will stop them. Ha.
