Honda Fit - lower engine shield clips
2016 Honda Fit, first oil change. Does anyone know how to unfasten the 2 clips that hold shield at the rear?
![]() They are threaded, but they just spin and spin and spin, I'm assuming that the plastic clip that mounts to the frame was spinning along with the plastic screw. I ended up breaking one of the inner clips, and then swung the shield to the side to get to the drain plug and oil filter. It's the little things....Sometimes I think those shields are more of a hassle than anything....

Band.

That looks more like a push-rivet to me than threaded.
I think you just . . . pull.

smash and grab. Go to auto parts store, get new ones. Screw it.

You put a flat head between the two pieces. The middle part pops down. Then you remove like a plastic pop rivet.

I bought a Mityvac 7201 fluid extractor. Best $100 ever spent. Oil change in 15 minutes without getting your hands dirty or crawling around under the car.

Yes they are the generic push pins that Honda uses. You will see two rings when looking at the fastener. Just pry the inner circle from the outer one. They will come off even when the aren't destroyed in the removal process. I just zip tie the pan back in place for the two rear fastener locations

How do you like the fit. I thought so far so good it's got a ton of room and the mileage is great. Got a lx for my daughter three weeks ago. I hope the cvt isn't the weakness though.

We really like the fit so far. we got a CVT also - wanted a manual but they were really hard to get when we bought in December. It's my wife's daily driver and I think for the money it's alot of car. TONS of room, it's amazing how big the trunk is compared to my daughters Yaris.
I think CVTs have been around long enough now to be reliable...Honda is using them a lot now. Last edited by dave 911; 05-31-2016 at 08:51 AM.. |

Not according to my niece. She drives her Fit with CVT like a racing car and it goes really well, and reliably. Fantastic car. |
