Charlie, R.I.P.
We got Charlie about 16 years ago. We were only supposed to take care of him for a few weeks until his owner could find a place to live where she could keep a dog. After a while she asked if we just wanted to keep him. His was half Shih-tzu and half Yorkie. I don't think we could have made a better choice if we had actually looked for a pet. Charlie was sweet, friendly to all people and other animals in the neighborhood. He rarely barked and was a real pleasure to be around. Charlie went blind in one eye about 8 years ago and lost most of his sight in the other a few years later. His hearing was also mostly gone but he found his way around pretty good. Charlie went into heart failure 2 weeks ago and died on the vets table. Both the vet who had known him for 16 years and I agreed it was time to let him go. A sad moment for my wife and I. I don't know that we are going to get another pet soon. I still think of him when I go to fridge for a snack or when I fix breakfast and always put a little scrambled egg aside for him.

Sorry for your loss. It's VERY difficult, I know. At least you had a long run with him.

Very sorry to hear... I've lost two four legged companions (family members, nothing less) in the last 3 years. Never forget them... I have no doubt if there's a heaven, they're there waiting to greet us at the gates.

Sorry for you loss Jerry. I'm going to give Colbi & Maxx and extra biscuit this evening.
RIP Charlie |
Almost the same thing happened my cat at only age 8. I understand that empty feeling when you go into the kitchen and no pet.
It will take some time. |
Sorry to hear about Charlie. It is never easy losing a family member.
Regards, Sandy |
Sorry Jerry. It's tough to lose a friend of 16 years. Charlie looks like quite a character. I'll bet you had quite a time together.
Sorry for your loss. |
Very sorry Jerry. Sounds like a great friend, and one that will be missed. Lots of us understand what your feeling. Cherish your thoughts and good times.

Sorry for your loss Jerry. It sounds like Charlie had a good run to 16 with you guys. I know how very painful the loss can be. My dog Missy died at only 10 on the day before xmas.
I like what Rika said about sharing your love with another dog. I haven't gotten another yet, but I am starting to look now. The more time that goes by, the memory of the pain is increasingly overshadowed by all of the good memories. Here's a photo of Missy. She was a roadtrip mama. She loved riding the 911 Targa. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1299895297.jpg |
