Sad Post

I have some friends, a little older than myself, that just had a 41 year old daughter die a few days ago. The poor girl was an invalid for probably 38 of those years. The mother cared for her as a full time job. Never knew them to go anywhere much. The little girl was always cared for by family except in cases where she had to be hospitalized for a while. I never heard a word of complaint from anyone in the whole family. To save my soul I just don't see where some people get the strength to go through the days with the load that they have placed on them.

People like that make me embarrassed that I worry about the stupid stuff I worry about.

My wife and I have been going through something like that for the last 18 years. The toll it takes on everyone is un imaginable. The hard part is looking at your child and seeing all the un realized dreams and aspirations you had for them.
Hopefully everyone is in a better place now

Steve

Man, right on.

A couple of years ago my sister (35 at the time) had a massive stroke, from which she has almost entirely recovered. While she was in the rehab facility there was a woman who was probably in her 40s who had also had a stroke... Her husband was there all the time and though I never got to know him per se we certainly "knew" each other by sight. He was also probably mid 40s and his wife was just not really there... Conscious but not communicative, not really aware of what was going on around her. Every time I think I have a problem I try to remember that guy. It's two years later and I think about him _alll the time_.

Larry, sorry for your loss.

Right!!! I got an infection working overseas and it weakened my heart. I take 4 pills a day (all cheap) and still run around like some kind of idiot. What problems do I have? Yeah, I get all PO'd if the 944 battery is dead. It only takes one little bad thing to change your life from normal problems to major big-time problems. Maybe I need to look closer at my priorities.

Thanks all! I guess the purpose of this thread was to post my admiration for people like CD that posted a similar problem above and my astonishment as to how they manage to bear up. These people should be an inspiration to us all.
