WTF is a board of equalization anyway?

I had to laugh at your post though, because it brought to mind another "racket" where some company (I don't recall their name) poses like they're the federal government and you are supposed to buy a poster from them which has all the state and federal postings a business should have in plain site for the workers. I did not respond to their (snail) mail so they called me. They told me that they work with the federal and state governments to ensure all the proper postings are in place and to not have such can result in big fines and of course the only way to be compliant is to buy their poster. So I asked them what are each of the postings required for compliance? As they named them off I would pause them and look it up on the internet and then print it out. The call took about a half hour, needless to say they were not happy at the end when I told them I didn't need the poster as they just told me, and I printed out each of the necessary postings. Great fun that one.
