Question For Electricians - Exceeding Halogen Wattage On A Bathroom Fixture

Hi Gang - I decided to upgrade the bathroom light fixtures this weekend. The new fixtures hold 3 x 50watt Halogen (G9 bulbs) and I find that they are dimmer than I would like. It clearly states in the instructions that installing any bulbs greater than 50W will be a fire hazard. Is this the case? I know Halogens produce alot of heat, I was thinking of upgrading these bulbs to 65watt units? What is the verdict guys, safe to upgrade to 65Watts or leave them alone (at 50Watts)?

Many Thanks - Yasin

I'm not a pro, but I agree those suckers are HOT HOT HOT. I wouldn't do it, personally.

And, when your house burns down, the insurance investigator will find those 65W bulbs in that 50W fixture, and you're toast.

Get higher wattage fixtures or add 3 more 50 watts , total six.
If you know this already (sorry) but don't touch the bulbs when installing grease from hands diminishes the life of the bulb..

No go on the 65's. Some fixtures have an auto cut off if they overheat.

Ok cool thanks for the replies guys! I figured the 65W would be a bad idea.
