Oh, the irony... Danville, CA

Small local police department. Systemic corruption. Guns, drugs, They'll even arrest your ex husband for DUI for a fee.

Finally they are arresting cops. With amusing results....

Yeah...saw this on the local news a few days ago. Apparently these cops hired attractive women to hang out at bars frequented by the intended victim...usually a guy going thru a nasty divorce. The woman would chat up the guy, then after several drinks, propose that they leave for someplace more private. As soon as he drove a couple of blocks, a cop would pull him over and bust him on a DUI. Needless to say, the women (who were also over the limit) were never stopped. Don't know how the cops solicited their customers or how much they charged for this "service".

This all came on the heels of a local drug taskforce commander getting busted for re-selling the dope he confiscated in drug busts. Greed knows no boundaries...

A local divorce attorney would pay the cops to "dirty up" a divorce case with a DUI so her clients could get 100% custody.

Also rumored... A prominent businessman who donated money to a "reform" DA candidate was arrested for DUI with a BAC of 0.04

For every bad cop, ten good cops get the blame.

Sadly, these do not appear to represent isolated incidents.

My father was a policeman in Oakland, CA for nearly 30 years. He figures only a man who was not really interested in police work would take a job in sleepy Danville, CA.

Despite EXTREMELY low crime rates, Danville has about 45 officers including reserves. And it seems that a culture of corruption is easily maintained in a small town like this. It's too bad. It's a beautiful place to live.

My parents live in a beach resort town that has 300 residents in the off season and eight full time cops. Every little township on that island has a very large (for the ratio of cops to residents) and well-equipped, militarized police force and no crime whatsoever other than than every traffic offense they can possibly gin up.

It seems to me that the good cops should do a better job of policing their ranks if they really don't want any blame.

The funny thing is, these kind of activities are usually "well known" among the entire force, but no one steps up and tries to do anything about it.
