Job Search Opinion
Would you guys work temporarily as an "account representative" for an insurance or financial management company? I have three degrees in Financial Accounting, General Business, and Managerial Economics. Based on my education I am much more useful as an analyst of some sort, or someone who does planning and number crunching.
In the past week I have received three representative ![]() ![]()

Probably. It's experience and keeps your brain from getting stale so why not.

I get those kinds of offers all the time, most often from Farmers. They are easy jobs to get and very hard to keep and make any money. They usually hire large classes of trainees and count on a very large attrition or drop-out rate. Some of them pay a draw or a small base salary. It takes quite a while to make any money at those. If you have a passion for sales in that business and can go a long time before your first good commission check, it might be a good fit for you.

Thanks Rick,
That is exactly what I wanted to know. You have it spot on. One of the offers was from Farmers Insurance, another from Physicians Mutual (be your own boss!), and the third from a company called "AMG," which I assume is Affiliated Managers Group. I applied to Accountemps and HP today for a couple positions.
