How do I repaint a Caine chair?
I have 4 chairs that are probably 50 years old. I would like to change the color and use them. I think I can get the wooden frames cleaned and prepped without too much trouble.
How do I go about preparing the Caine so that it will hold the paint, and not be so thick that the detail is lost? I think it has some type of enamel on there now. The Caine seems to be in good shape, it’s not stretched or brittle. I’ve spoken with people at the Sherwin Williams store but would like to see what the forum has to say. Thanks in advance. ![]()

I may be overthinking this.

Unless you GLOB it on, paint does not fill. When dry, paint is extremely thin.
