Really happy with Amazon

I purchased some stuff from Amazon a couple weeks ago. Got a tracking number and all. And then the package (shipped via US Postal Service) got to the neighboring town, went "out for delivery," and never made it to my house. It's been a week. Local post office surmises it'll get lost between post offices and may take weeks to find its way to me. Thanks to all the Cliff Klavens out there.

So I emailed Amazon (who can obviously track the package, too, and know I'm not making this stuff up) and within 24 hours they sent out a replacement package, overnighted by Federal Express. Got here today, as promised. :D

Amazon service--it's like the Pelican Parts of books.

Yup. Borders doesn't do that...

I buy more than just books from amazon. Some of my climbing gear I got there

My shower head, and more than a few tools as well...

The only thing I've ever ordered from Amazon was my wife's Christmas present. I bought her a new sewing machine (yes, that was what she wanted) for about 65% of the retail price. They said it would arrive in 5 to 7 business days, and it actually arrived in 3. My only experience with them, & it was a good one.

I love Amazon. I am amazed at the variety of stuff available there. Any time I want to buy something I'll look it up on Amazon first, and check the price, and reviews.

Get the Amazon Visa card, and get 3% cash back on all your Amazon purchases.

Has been exactly my experience as well.

They do what they say they will.

Incredibly refreshing concept in America at the moment.

All my transactions have been good as well.

I buy tons of stuff from Amazon. I'd say that 90% of my Christmas shopping for the past several years is done through Amazon. I prefer to order the stuff that is "sold and shipped from Amazon", but I also purchase from the little guys that sell stuff on Amazon.

Last night I ordered a set of black toner cartridges for my printer and a basket for my wife's bicycle.

I got my Samsung 46" Flat Screen from Amazon, it was much cheaper than buying locally.

I've ordered shoes (for the wife and/or daughter), music, movies, books, software, electronics. I think I'm going to end up buying a mag extension for my gun from there. I've ordered used books. I've also gotten vitamins from Amazon.

Have had nothing but positive experiences with Amazon, Recently found my range hood through the,m for $350 less then any local store, or anyplace online. Best part was the place I got it from was a local pickup.

I will jump on the bandwagon. I have had great experiences with them as well. Most of the packages get here on or before the estimated delivery date.

I still want to know how the shipping gods know how much of a hurry I am in. It seems if I order an item as a gift and have tons of time it gets to me in no time. If I really want some new toy for me the shipping takes forever.

I've had great luck and some good buys. Got my last cell phone ATT wanted $299 for from them for $25, plus an extra $18 to switch it to ATT service.

Well, they're not doing much at all right now.

I only wish their supersaver shipping wasn't so terribly slow.

I ordered a DVD box set for my Mom for Christmas, wrapped, etc., from them.

Christmas morning she opens it up and it's a book, not DVD's, of the same show. (An Idiot Abroad). She got the diary picture book instead of the DVD's.

I emailed them, pointing out the problem, and they credited my purchase and shipped her the DVD box set. They even included a note explaining how it was their mix-up, not mine, that resulted in her not getting what she should have.

Yep, more than happy with them, and they've earned themselves a loyal customer.

Amazon sucks for everyone but the consumer. They take about 10-12% off the top of a sale on every item even if all they do is LIST it. If you're a retailer, forget about selling a damn thing unless you are the lowest price. It devalues so many brands because the retailers have to continually rediscount items to be the lowest and move product.

Great for the consumer, horrible for the business.
